What is your book all about?
Ian Kristofer is a singer, songwriter, missionary, and author of the book, Making Disciples And Leading Others To Make Them. In this practical guide and memoir, he dives into this on-going global church challenge in a unique and personal way. Drawing from eight years of experience living among an un-reached oral-only community in South-East Africa Ian shares the essentials he and his family have learned from Jesus on how to continue the discipleship map Jesus started. Up to the present time It is catalyzing a small movement through-out the country they serve. With this in mind Ian tells stories from the mission field, confesses the ups and downs of what their experience has been, highlights essentials on how to make disciples that make disciples, and reveals the plan for the future. The book encourages readers that they can also hear and follow the plans of God for their own life. Ian and his family are still currently serving and applying these biblical models in the country full time making the book unique.
What inspired you to write the book?
In my everyday life I am an avid runner and cross-fitter. Running and praying is a frequent pattern in my weekly regimen. While running I enjoy speaking and hearing from God about everything in life from large mission related projects to how my kids might be feeling and in need of that week. Many decisions have become clear through those runs. Even some things written in the book were revealed on those lonely and beautiful Mozambican trails. On one of those runs I sensed God directing me to share what I had learned from him about discipleship. In that conversation it became evident that He also wanted me to share our family story as well up to the present day. That was enough for me, so I began writing!
What is your target audience for the book?
Anyone desiring to hear from God in their life would be a perfect fit for this book. If you have ever asked the question what is my purpose in life? Does God really hear me? Does God speak? Then this book is a wonderful choice!
What do you hope readers could get out from your book?
My hope in writing this book was first to be obedient to God! Beyond that is a desire for it to end up in the hands of those that desire the will of God to be fulfilled in their lives. The stories in this book are practical, applicable, and also miraculous! There is no limit to the adventure God will take you on when you say yes to what He asks of you. After reading this book one will walk away knowing if a normal guy like Ian could do this, then so could I. My wife and I have said many times that if we ever leave the mission field we hope to leave the people with one thing. We desire to help others to hear God for themselves.
What are your future goals/plans for the book?
In the future we desire to share the wisdom, revelation, and any stories we have experienced with individuals, groups, or communities it would serve well. Additionally, our desire is to give out what we have learned. In the book we encourage others to lean into the calling over their life with courage and obedience.
And something more about yourself.
Ian and his wife Carla founded the Compelled Ones Mission. Compelled Ones is a team of missionaries reaching the oral-only un-reached communities in Mozambique through health care, education, community development, and disciple multiplication. Of course Ian never dreamed of all the places God would send him after saying yes to going into the mission field. As a result of this his family has been all over the world now! At the present time Ian, Carla and their three sons currently reside and serve the people of a small village in Mozambique. In summary their dream is to see the Great Commission completed in their lifetime.
