Never a whit should one blame another for the folly which many befalls;
the might of love makes sons of men into fools who once were wise…
(Hávamál in the Poetic Edda.)
Veni Vidi Vicious is unique in the Austenesque catalogue. It is a steamy Viking Pride and Prejudice variation where Elizabeth of Longbourn in Mercia is forced to marry the savage Viking Fitzwilliam Darcyson, to save her brother. She travel to a foreign pagan country and has to adapt to the customs and the running of her home farm Nidaros.
Elizabeth’s courage had risen when faced with the fierce Viking, but what will she do when she finds herself as a stowaway on a Viking ship, heading for a major sea battle?
Hiding below deck in her husband’s Draken ship, she accidentally ends up in the biggest sea battle of the Viking era.
Fitzwilliam has been taught since infancy that men do not love, but can he withstand the temptation of giving his heart to the one woman whose eyes he cannot resist?
Veni Vidi Vicious is an intense and passionate love story between two people of different cultures and beliefs who unites their strengths in a time of adversity.
So what inspired me to write a gritty Viking story?
Who could resist the temptation of writing a brawny badass Darcy (think Jason Mamoa in Viking garb), not I… When I discovered that there were no medieval fiction amongst the thousands of Pride and Prejudice variations, I immediately thought about writing a Viking variation, combing my two great interests.
I live in an area rich with Viking history and a ship grave, the Oseberg ship, with the finest artefacts ever discovered. It is particularly interesting, that there were two ladies who were buried in the ship. Then archaeologist found Erika Red. Hitherto, females buried with weapons had been declared to be the male’s weapons that had shifted in the grave over the years. Erika was alone, had numerous weapons, and a head injury from a sword that had healed. The wear on her shoulders suggested she was an archer, and the wear in her back that she was a rider. If Erika was a shield maiden, so could Elizabeth…
Through my membership in Borre Viking Group, I have done a lot of research over the last thirty years, enabling me to give as an accurate rendition of the era as possible.
Veni Vidi Vicious is an unrepentant rendition of the Viking era. It refutes some of pop culture’s erroneous beliefs and may surprise the reader about customs you may think are modern, like Christmas stockings and a honeymoon.
I have recently released the audiobook narrated by the talented Harry Frost. I am amazed at how he managed to bring the book to life. Harry made Fitzwilliam Darcyson sound like the brawny Viking he is.

My hope is that the Author Lounge may bring Veni Vidi Vicious to a wider audience, in addition to the Jane Austen fanfiction readers, and I like to imagine that it would make a great movie.
A little about me:

I was a Norwegian hobby scribbler with no intention of publishing when two of my books were plagiarised from a free sight and published on Amazon. It prompted me to take the step into the world of published authors and I have not regretted that decision. I am an indie author who does most of the work myself, but for the help of beta readers, a professional editor (which is a non-negotiable) and I have recently hired a professional cover maker. Other than that, I write, format, and publish my books using the Kindle Create tools.

I’ve read it multiple times and so far have listened to the audiobook twice. I highly recommend it!
