Infinity's Avatar

Infinity’s Avatar: A Billionaire’s Journey to Combat Chaos and Embrace Destiny

It’s about a 28-year-old tech multibillionaire who has become disenchanted with his life, chosen to be “Infinity’s Avatar” by the Tao to battle the forces of chaos, entropy, and non-existence. Aided by Buddhist goddess and Bodhisattva Guanyin, whom he first meets in his dreams, and a tough former NYC detective and Special Forces operative, he must undergo physical and metaphysical trials and overcome his own reluctance and self-doubt to take up the mantle of Infinity’s Avatar. The book draws from Hindu, Buddhist, and Taoist philosophies.

Inspired by Zelazny: Crafting the Realities of “Infinity’s Avatar”

I was taking part in a discussion online about the late, great, science fiction and fantasy writer, Roger Zelazny’s Hugo-Award-Winning book “Lord of Light,” and visualized a scene where “cracks” in reality appeared and in-between the cracks were other realities and worlds. The concept appealed to me so I included it in Chapter 1. I began writing “Infinity’s Avatar” this past April and have written four chapters plus the Prologue so far.

Engaging Fantasy for Sci-Fi Enthusiasts: Themes of Destiny and Self-Discovery in “Infinity’s Avatar”

Fantasy and science fiction readers. What do you hope readers could get out of your book? — first and foremost, I hope to write a book that will be entertaining and engaging. I’m not a preachy person or writer, but some themes of “Infinity’s Avatar” are being who you are, finding your destiny, living a meaningful life, free choice, and the realization that material things and “success” are fleeting, and often reflect the opinions and expectations of other.

Completing “Infinity’s Avatar” and Lessons from “The Time Engineers” Debut

Number one is to finish writing Infinity’s Avatar. Right now, I am in the final stages of publishing my completed hard science fiction book, “The Time Engineers,” my debut novel, this summer. I am learning a lot, but realize that I have much more to learn about being a successful writer. There are many talented writers who could never sell their stories because they never mastered the marketing, sales promotion, and financial aspects of being an author. I don’t know if people will want to buy and read my books, but if they don’t, it won’t be because of my lack of effort or determination.

From Finance to Fiction: A Lifelong Journey in Writing

I retired 6 years ago from a long career in financial services and insurance, where I held various roles within the industry as a corporate employee, salesperson, insurance agency owner, and sales manager.

I’ve been writing since I was a sophomore in high school. I’m a published poet and wrote my first poem in 2nd grade. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania as an economics major and was a member of the track and field team. At the urging of my daughter, when I was in my 40s, I matriculated at William Paterson University as an MFA—Creative and Professional Writing candidate. Although I didn’t complete the degree, I had brilliant professors who re-kindled my interest in writing.

Reviving “The Time Engineers”: From Lost Chapters to a Completed Novel

In 2018, I got the idea for “The Time Engineers” and wrote two chapters, but it wasn’t until May 2023, when cleaning up files on my computer, that I “found” the two original chapters with the title, “The Time Fixers.” Starting last November, I decided to make a genuine effort to write a novel, one of my longtime goals and renamed the book. It took 4 months to write and the initial feedback was encouraging. A professional freelance editor was hired and finished the rough draft. I also hired an artist who is one of my oldest friends to do the cover art for “The Time Engineers.”

Family, Hobbies, and Pursuing Dreams: Future Writing Endeavors and Life’s Adventures

I’m married to my wife, Robin, for 44 years and we have two grown children and 2 grandchildren. I enjoy hiking, sports, and am an amateur meteorologist. We enjoy going on cruises and some of our favorite places are Norway, Iceland, Alaska, Hawaii, and Scotland.

My long-range goals are to write two more books and a novella for “The Time Engineers Saga,” finish “Infinity’s Avatar,” and I have another book idea that might be a trilogy, as well. As I mentioned, I’m not a preachy person but want to remind people it’s never too late to pursue a dream like writing and publishing a novel, or whatever your dream is. Just give that dream your best effort and don’t let anyone or anything deter or discourage you.
