Here is a Synopsis of my book.
Rachel is a romance writer… Well sort of.
What started one night in a fit of loneliness and an overdose of chocolate and cheap wine, somehow blossomed into two steamy romance novels featuring the perfect man, Raoul. A man who could never exist in real life. So she thought.
Under pressure to produce a third book for the series, Rachel hits a wall, and with a contractual deadline looming, her best friend/publisher arranges for her to take a breather. To recharge her batteries. To seek inspiration…. To house sit… In Florida. Next door to the real-life Raoul. Steve. Whose life got turned upside down each time she published her novels. Who now detests romance writers in general. Who despises HER in particular!
A chance meeting on the beach leads to first shock, then to a budding romance … then to disaster once Rachel realizes that she was the one who ruined Steve’s life with her writing. How can she tell him her true identity and still keep him in her life? And how can she compete with Lisa, Steve’s Greek-goddess-like personal assistant? His very possessive and jealous personal assistant, who is determined to keep Steve for herself.
What inspired me to write the book.
I had been thinking about it for a while, I had several parts of the book mapped out in my mind. I had been reading books online via several pay per chapter type sites, after reading several truly horrible stories and some really well written stories I decided to try to get mine down on paper.
Once done I spent hours tweaking and re tweaking it. then Kinda like Rachel from the book I sat there staring at the computer and said now what? before giving it to my sister to read. She is and English teacher and an avid reader. She was shocked at first that I had written a book, no one knew that I had been banging away at it for a while it took 6 months to a year to write.
She read it over and it took her a while….. the teacher in her kept trying to correct things LOL I am dyslexic and spelling is not my strong suit to say the least. So finally after what seemed like ages she said it was a good book. but it needed editing, serious editing.
So I said your hired LOL
After she was done her part I gave a copy to my aunt to review and she said it was better than a lot of books she had read…. so I spent the next 2 years (during Covid) submitting to various agents and getting a lot of no’s for odd reasons totally no relating to the book, Most had filled their quota for the year and not open to more submissions.
Some didn’t accept 3rd person point of view…. I am still not sure why? I guess you either love it or hate it. then I spent a year getting nos from Harlequin as it didn’t fit into any of their categories.
That’s when at the urging of friends and family I decided to self publish a little over a year ago…
The target audience for the book is spicy romance readers.
Her Hero’s Revenge is not a series but there a more books to follow, I have just finished writing a paranormal thriller and some of the characters from Her Hero’s Revenge pop up in it. It is called “Is It In the Cards” That book is in the final editing stage and I hope it will be out in October. I am currently writing a third book that is about the female valian from the first book. She was so crazy she needed her own book.
What do I hope that people get out of my book?
Well, Her Hero’s Revenge is a romance novel… I hope they smile…. and laugh. It is more than a romance it has a great story with lots of twists… and steam for those that like it.
Something about my self LOL that is hard I write fiction not real life LOL.
I am a Married busy mom of 2 busy boys 12 and 14… the oldest is Autistic, and I wrote the book Her Hero’s Revenge hopes that I could help hubby financially with the bills and at the same time able to spend more time with the family. Hubby works days and I work evenings so we basically kiss as one is coming home the other is leaving…. but we have our weekends LOL .. It has only been a year so far the book has paid for itself but I need help with marketing getting my name and book out there to those far and wide… which is any author’s dream.
Oh yes I am a Canadian, from a small town near Moncton, New Brunswick.
