A Groundbreaking Series for Child Safety

Does Blake Keep the Secret? Is the first book in a groundbreaking new children’s series, designed to educate and empower children while equipping adults with the tools they need- to protect the young ones in their lives. Written for children ages 2 through 12, this series tackles difficult but essential conversations about child safety and abuse prevention— in a way that is both age-appropriate and engaging.

The Power of Secrets and Grooming Tactics

The first installment, Does Blake Keep the Secret?, focuses on the power of secrets and how they can be used as a grooming tactics, by predators. In this story, young Blake finds themselves in a seemingly simple situation: his aunt offers him candy while his mom is away and asks him to keep it a secret. What starts as an innocent offer reveals a larger lesson, about the dangers of keeping secrets when an adult asks a child to do so.

Teaching Children to Say “NO” and Seek Help

Through Blake’s story, children are taught the importance of saying “NO,” and the value of confiding in a trusted adult, when something doesn’t feel right. This book provides clear, relatable, language that children can use to identify unsafe situations and to seek help.

A Personal Mission to Empower Children

As the author, this book stems from deeply personal experiences. During my own childhood, I wasn’t surrounded by safe adults. I lacked the language and understanding to recognize, and report, inappropriate behavior. Those experiences left a profound impact on me, shaping my mission to ensure that today’s children do not grow up feeling alone or powerless, in the face of such situations. After more than 13 years in education, working in two school districts, and now running my own in-home preschool program, I’ve seen firsthand how critical it is to give children a voice.

A Resource for Adults to Continue the Conversation

This book is not just for children: with an extra page in the back of this book- giving tips on how adults can continue these conversations at home: this book is a resource for families, caregivers, educators, and anyone who wants to be a part of the solution- to combat child abuse

Empowering Children to Speak Up Against Manipulation

Child predators often use secrets as a way to manipulate and to groom their victims. This book’s core message- “If you’re uncomfortable, speak up!”- this is a crucial step in dismantling those tactics. By addressing these issues early, and often, children are given the tools that they need to navigate their world safely and confidently.

Educational Tools for Children and Adults Alike

The target audience for this book includes children as young as two years old and up to as late as 12 years old. The adults in their lives who play important roles can also benefit. We can combat over 80% of child abuse— through education. The narrative and illustrations are crafted to ensure younger children can engage with the material, while the lessons resonate with older kids as well.

Expanding the Series to Address More Grooming Tactics

Looking ahead, this series has ambitious goals. I have written four more story lines- and have had each story edited- that address other critical elements of grooming: manipulation, isolation, and boundary-breaking- are just a few examples. Each book in the series will focus on a different tactic used by groomers, providing a comprehensive resource for families and educators committed to protecting children. I am actively working to secure funding to bring these books to life- with the same care and attention as “Does Blake Keep the Secret?”

Building a Growing Library for Ongoing Dialogue

My ultimate vision is to create a library of resources that grows with children, fostering and ongoing dialogue about personal safety and empowerment.

In addition to my work as an author, I bring over a decade of teaching experience, a degree in early childhood education and development- and a plethora of knowledge from working with the amazing foundations in my community. As a Preschool Owner, I pride myself on creating a preschool program that is not just a place for learning: it’s a space where children feel safe, valued, and loved!

A Call to Action for Community and Change

As I love to volunteer in my community, my child safety advocacy work makes a difference. I partner with community organizations to host events and initiatives aimed at protecting and uplifting children. These efforts are at the heart of what I do- they drive my commitment to creating books, and spaces, that make a difference.

Does Blake keep the secret as more than just a book, it’s a call to action. It’s a tool for teaching children about safety. It’s a resource for adults who want to protect the children in their lives, and a step towards breaking the cycle of silence and abuse.

Together we can empower children to recognize unsafe situations, to speak out, and to thrive in a world that often feels too big for their small voices.
