There aren’t many romances targeted at both male and female readers, but the Awakenings series is just that. Time to Click is the third book in the series but still a great place to start.
The first book in the series follows Mia (Finding Love in 2045). Mia tries to find love when instant gratification is the norm, and most guys have sex bots to satisfy them.
Awoken in 2046 (book 2) is the series climax where Mia and Ethan’s connection grows but a technological arising threatens everything.
Time to Click (book 3) tells Ethan’s story of his tortuous journey to love. The story starts with him dumped in a ditch and left for dead before it retraces the events that led him to the ditch. The story tracks how Ethan gets his life back on track, leading to where he meets Mia for the first time.
After writing Mia’s story, I wanted to tell Ethan’s. It enabled me to include elements of a short story which gained rave reviews with a Create 50 competition entitled ‘Twisted’. As the twisted horror theme suggests, ‘Time to Click’ has some gruesome moments which change Ethan’s life, but they’re interspersed with his comical attempts at courtship and the deeper love he craves.
Time to Click certainly gives an obvious message to be careful with casual encounters. If it stops just one person from being unfaithful to their partner, then it has done its job. Although, if it gained momentum and became a film, that would be good too.
The ‘Author’s Lounge’ is doing a grand job of getting self-published author’s extra focus. Traction for a new author is a challenge as we slowly grow our profile. If the local press or on local radio spread the word about excellent reviews, that would help to get more people reading. It seems social media will remain the primary avenue for gaining attention.
As an author, I’ve received some great reviews. Some comments about Finding Love in 2045 compared it to fifty shades. Writing sex scenes is very challenging, especially for a guy. In my subsequent books, I have toned down the heat level, but sex is part of a loving relationship and shouldn’t be glossed over completely. Recent reviews have suggested I have the balance right.
After gaining recognition in the Create 50 competition, I committed more of my time to writing and improving my craft. Finding Love in 2045 took four years to reach publishing quality. In-keeping with my career in process improvement, my process has improved, ‘Awoken in 2045’ took twelve months. Time to Click only took ten months.
I outsourced cover design to display a more professional appearance for the entire series and, by working with the ‘Shark Tank’ writing group, my manuscript had regular reviews and critique to keep the story tight. I hope you notice how my writing style develops as you read the series.
I have a new series planned, The life of Billy Spark. Billy lost his mother when he was a toddler, but she wanted to know he would be okay. They visited a gypsy at a fayre who gave them his life book. The whole of his successful life was already written, but when he deviates from the path written, the words disappear and reappear with a less rosy future.
A standalone novel which I’m itching to write is about an elderly woman who takes a stash of rejected senolytic drugs. Her body rewinds to that of a much younger woman, but before she can enjoy her younger body, the drug company come looking for her.
I’ve also written a non-fiction piece which is releasing March 2022, “Why you should teach your kids to gamble?” It opens up the biggest issues with the gambling world.
After these, I plan to continue Ethan and Mia’s story in a new series.
Thanks for your interest in my work. I hope you enjoy my stories.

Found this book an interesting read. Helped me forget about real-life during the pandemic but also left me questioning whether future life maybe like this!
Good characters and easy to like and empathise with Mia. Several twists and turns. Great first novel.

I was privileged to proofread this book for Simon. Simon came to my book club and read a passage from the book, so I was very excited to read it…
I loved the way it told the story of Ethan who you either like or dislike or maybe just feel sorry for the guy. It was great to find out about the characters we had read about in the other 2 books. Can’t wait for the next read.
