Grateful Acknowledgment for Author’s Lounge Invitation

I would like to thank ‘Author’s Lounge’ for the honour of being invited to write another article with them for another book. I have self published with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing called ‘Thematic Poetry.’ I was previously invited to write an article on my first ever novel ‘The Creator.’ Thank you again to ‘Author’s Lounge‘ for this wonderful opportunity.

What is your book all about?

‘Thematic Poetry’ is the second poetry book I have released with Amazon KDP. When I desired to write some more poetry, I decided to choose different themes and then write a poem on each one! Hence the title ‘Thematic Poetry.’ The different themes I chose to write a poem on are: Music, A Baby’s First Touch, The Wind, The Design Argument (Philosophy of existence), a Mother’s Love, Betrayal, Siblings, Questioning Existence, Horror Films, Soulmates and Love, Books, An Eagle, The Moon, Halloween, The Rain, and finally The Cinema. In ‘The Unexplained Galaxy’ and ‘The Design Argument’ I explore the truth of our existence here on Earth.

Exploring Theological and Philosophical Concepts in ‘The Unexplained Galaxy

There are some references to Christianity in the poem ‘The Unexplained Galaxy.’ I question whether aliens are actually demons made by the fallen angel Lucifer in Christian theology to govern over Hell! During my school days at 17 years old I selected to study ‘Philosophy of Religion’ as an A-level subject. During this time. I was taught about a concept in philosophy called ‘The Design Argument. ‘The theory by a man called ‘William Paley’ suggests that a god must exist as there is evidence of design on our planet earth, referring to the clouds in the sky, the trees and the oceans and beaches. In my poem, I explore the theory we explored at school further.

I question how we came to exist at all! In the poem ‘Betrayal’ I explore the topic of envy and popularity and the depths a person would go to if envious of a friend! In ‘Horror Films’ one of my favourite genres of films, I explore what the initial purpose of horror films were.

I explore that they were to cause a plunge of fear and my own first experiences watching them and what my initial first thoughts were of the first horror film I ever watched! ‘Thematic Poetry’ is a selection of poems written on my selected themes. I thoroughly enjoyed thinking and exploring each theme I chose to write a poem on.

What inspired you to write the book?

My inspiration for writing ‘Thematic Poetry’ was attending a poetry workshop. I moved to an area called Biggleswade last year (2023) in the county of Bedfordshire. I keep an eye out for any events going on in the area. A theatre in the market square called ‘The Bigg Theatre; was running a poetry open mic night. I came across the event by visiting the theatre’s website.

The details said I could go along and have a nice evening listening to people read out either their own poems or their favourite poems by a poet. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to all the poems the attendees had written. Towards the end of the evening the host suggested that we all pick one theme and write a poem on it. Everyone attending agreed to write a poem on the theme wind.

We were given time to write a poem each. When we were all ready myself and everyone attending read out their poem on the theme ‘Wind’, one after the other. I enjoyed the experience so much I decided to write a poetry book and use the same method of picking out themes and writing a poem on them! I also included my initial poem on ‘The Wind’ written at the open mic night in the poetry book ‘Thematic Poetry.’ My advice to any readers reading this would be to do the same thing if wanting to write a poetry book! Pick a theme and write a poem on it!

What is your target audience for the book?

My target audience for the book would be anyone who loves reading poetry! As well as writing on questioning the truth of our existence on Earth. I also wrote about happy themes such as music, books, love, family and the cinema. So I think ‘Thematic Poetry’ is suitable for all ages! I hope those who love reading and writing poetry come across my poetry book and enjoy my poetry on different themes!

What do you hope readers could get out from your book?

I hope readers of ‘Thematic Poetry’ experience pure enjoyment from reading my poems. I also hope that it inspires any readers to try out writing poetry themselves as I find writing poetry to be a thoroughly pleasurable experience!

What are your future goals/plans for the book?

My goals and plans for the book ‘Thematic Poetry’ is hopefully for word to spread on my poems and for more and more people to enjoy reading them! I hope for readers to enjoy the poems and to hopefully mention them to others through word of mouth!

And something more about yourself.
