on that Day: A Trilogy by Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets is a series of enlightened works that speak of the importance of keeping faith against the long wait for the Second Coming.

Before realizing it, Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets had already written a trilogy. Each book that he wrote helped him become a witness to the faith and beliefs of the 1st Century Church, the very first church that was ordained by the apostle Peter, who was given the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven by Christ, as was written in the Gospel of Matthew 16:19

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Christ himself gave believers the clearest example of faith through his Parable of the Ten Virgins (sometimes known as the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins).

In the parable, ten virgins are waiting for the coming of a bridegroom. They each have brought oil to light their lamps with; five have brought enough to last them the wait and more, while the other five did not think things through. When the night passes, the five who have prepared still have their lamps on, and the other five’s lamps are unlit, and they have to scramble outside to buy more oil. When the bridegroom does arrive, the five who were prepared are rewarded for their wait, and the other five are disowned for missing the bridegroom’s arrival.

Although there are many interpretations of the parable, it holds a clear message of keeping the faith, as reinforced in 2 Timothy 4:7, when Paul says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

In the three books that Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets wrote, making up on that Day: A Trilogy, he harkens back to the teachings of Paul, which instructs everyone to work towards uniting the faithful through the body of Christ. The Second Coming of Christ will come to pass soon, and there will be the awarding of eternal life.

All believers must be like the wise virgins in the parable and prepare properly so as not to be denied the promise of entry into the everlasting Kingdom of Heaven.

Knowing the Signs of the Second Coming of Christ

In teaching believers of knowing the signs of the Second Coming, Christ spoke of the Parable of the Budding Fig Tree.

In the parable, Christ points to the fig tree and says that when the leaves on the branches of the tree start growing, it is a sign that summer is coming, and it is coming soon.

Similarly, when believers see occurrences as they are described in scripture, it is an indication that the Second Coming is happening soon—the Father revealed these words so believers can be guided, so their lives and their families can be put in order, and adequate preparations for His return could be made.

The warnings are clear, and they are there for everyone to consider and take note of. Yet, believers should not despair because of the Second Coming and the calamities that accompany this glorious event but also rejoice for Christ has returned, and the wait is over for the Kingdom of Heaven.

76-year-old Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets, a semi-retired businessman, has had a relatively wonderful life and career despite never having attended college. Living now at Providence Farm in Bedford County, Virginia, he presently operates a cattle operation and raises calves for the feeder market.
