What is the book about?
The Green Girl and the serum focuses on the character Stacey Roberts the green girl who lived life as an average young woman living with her family in Manchester England that was until she volunteered herself to be injected with a serum and was transformed into a green-skinned superheroine she escaped and found herself living in Florida USA where she is reunited with an old flame Ben Fox.
Ben invites her to join his Haven unit a place of safety for other superhuman unknown to Stacey. However she will be drawn into a war between Ben’s Haven forces. As well as another superhuman faction known as the Outcasts lead by the sinister Surge a figure from Ben’s past.
Who will win, what is the secret of the serum, and what does it have to do with Stacey’s family? Also what was her father’s role and its creation and how did he fit in with knowing that it was used to create monsters? Find out in the first part of the Green Girl.
What Inspired you to write it?
I was inspired to write this due to two reasons. I loved the old science fiction stories with authors like HG Wells and Ray Bradbury which I read growing up. Also, I was inspired by the video game series of Metal Gear Solid due to the plot. The interesting characters and their motivations as well as the twist of the story.
I was also inspired by the film Unbreakable and thought to myself what it would be like to live in a world where superhuman run freely. I enjoy the concept of genetics and it is one thing with science which I find interesting. Also, I wanted to use this concept in the creation of my Green Girl series. I’m also a big Planet of the Apes nerd and was inspired by the modern films.
What is the book’s targeted audience?
Young Adult readers mainly teenagers aged between fifteen to eighteen due to the books mature settings.
What do you hope that readers will get out of it?
I mainly hope that readers enjoy what they read and question Stacey’s motives like for example what would they do if they were given her powers and how would they react?
What are your future goals/plans for the book?
Currently, I am looking for funding for the editorial of the other books in this series so that I can present them to an agent or a traditional publisher? I am also currently writing my tenth manuscript for this series.
Something about yourself?
Living with mild cerebral palsy and autism has been challenging and rewarding. Stacey Roberts was inspired by an ex who painted herself green. There is an interest in reading science fiction books. As well as fantasy like The Lord of the Rings as well as photography, I enjoy food and drink and have an interest in cooking.
I like to watch live performances at my local theater and have an interest in the arts. As well as this I enjoy walking, travelling socializing with both friends and family. I enjoy going out on days out .
And also when I am not busy doing this I like to spend time writing which I have a keen interest in as one of my main goal is to gain representation for my work from an agent.
