Meet Author Sherry Raby: From Magical Adventures to Memoirs
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Sherry Raby. I am the author of Tawny’s Magical Mystical Fantastical Adventure. I have also written Ellie’s Grand Christmas Wish, Sammy Sees A Squirrel, Can I Have a Sleepover, and I’ll Be Seeing You, a memoir for my mom. In all, I have now written fourteen books and I am working on four more. Tawny’s Magical, Mystical, Fantastical Adventure is about a young girl who has an accident and is in a coma. While in the coma, she meets some strange people.
Whimsical Elves, Enchanted Cookies, and Fairies: A Magical Tale
The Mushelrooms are a family of elves. Whenever their sons play pranks on the sprites, they get turned into mushrooms. (This is not a safe thing for them, since their mother loves to make mushroom soup.) Tawny tastes amazing cookies made by the Old Woman in The Shoe.
Afraid Tawny is looking for a home, the Old Woman quickly makes it understood there is no room for another child in her shoe. She gets to meet the top fairy after climbing a huge tree and being made fun of by Olive, another fairy. Olive laughs at Tawny’s legs and tells her she would be much better off with wings.
Baby fairies are flutterflies who haven’t yet decided to be fairies.
I wrote Tawny when I was thinking about a young child who had just been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. I dedicated the book to my seven-year-old niece, who had her mom read it to her at bedtime.
The real Rylee, my niece, called me after she finished reading the book. “Aunt Sis. Is Tawny deciding if she wants to live or die? I didn’t know what to say to her, because she was in tears and said she was glad she went back to Aunt Janie.
Emotional Impact and Success: Discover Tawny’s Magical Adventure
I think the book will bring joy and tears to children and adults, but it will strike a nerve with everyone, about what happens when faced with our mortality, or that of a child. I would love to see Tawny’s Magical, Mystical, Fantastic Adventure be a success. If ‘Author’s Lounge’ can help me get there, I will be a fan and member forever. If you’re interested in the book, you can find it on Amazon.
A Lifelong Journey: From Family Roles to a New Writing Adventure
I’ve been writing since I was fourteen, and I am now a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and a writer. I’ve cherished every role in life, but this phase is all about personal fulfillment. I am now seventy and embarking on a new path with my husband, who is my partner and manager.
He has helped me create my website by laughing at my mistakes. I have had experts give me information for my facebook, but it is my family’s friendship and guidance that have helped me to be a better person.
Embracing an Eclectic Life and Writing Journey
I love the Sherry I have always been, but I feel like my path as a writer is the path I have been working to find and follow. My sister once asked how I write my books. I told her it was George’s idea. George is the little voice that tells me what to write. Some want to know what genre I write. I can’t answer that question. My life is eclectic. Daily care and conversation go to a collection of 130 air plants and succulents.
I love my children and grandchildren and would love to see them every day, but I’m glad when they go home. I then have time to visit with the people I am writing about. If my life is eclectic, so is my genre. I love to write romance. I’ve a psychological thriller with an upcoming sequel and a shape-shifter book that also has a forthcoming sequel. I have written over a dozen books, but Tawny’s Magical, Mystical, Fantastical Adventure may be one of my favorites so far.
