My book Someone Like You is an African American Romance book that is about Kennedi James is a contract lawyer who just turned thirty and got engaged to the man of her dreams–you know, the same Ivy League she comes from, from a great family, and a lawyer. She thinks she loves him, and he is a guy that any woman should be lucky to have. But why is it that the closer the wedding day gets, the more nervous she gets, wondering if she is making the right decision?
Julian Knight is twenty-five years old and works for a towing company called Caves. He is young, sexy, and living his free life. Who would have thought that one fateful night of him working on the road would cause him to collide with the sexy, smart, and engaged Kennedi James? He usually does not take women or relationships seriously, but will a fateful rainy night have them both second-guessing what is and what shouldn’t be? Everyone will be surprised that it is someone like you who could take my breath away.
I started coming up with the concept of my book during the pandemic. I always start with writing the words first and then I came up with the title of Someone Like You when the concept of a woman who was engaged to the man she thought of as her someone like you from what her background is to what his background is and how on paper that they look really good together but Kennedi can tell that there is something missing from the relationship. This faithful night where she meets someone who she was not even expecting to meet and how that turned into something she was not expecting it to turn into but was meeting this unexpected person becomes her someone like you all along. My target audience is basically women in the African American romance community. People who enjoy reading and look at it as an escape from what their life is daily. The age of my target audience is eighteen years old and up.
Reading this book you will give you a sweet love story with some spicy scenes and a story about discovering what you truly want to have and the love that you desire can be a reality and if you meet someone who knows how to do that I would say give them a chance because they open doors to give you a love that you have never seen before or never felt before. Just like a quote in my book says “Love is like shores. Sometimes it seems like you are riding such a high wave, and then the next moment, it seems like the waves are steady, but if you are loving the right person, the lows will never get to low and the highs will have you feeling so blessed that two souls that were once lost were found with each other”.
The future that I have for Someone like you is to make it a movement when it comes to romance for singles looking for their someone like you and for couples who are married or engaged to talk about how they knew that their spouse was the one for them? Talk about the obstacles that you may have endured to find your someone like you happily ever after. I also want to direct my book someone like you to be a featured film. The goal is to have book to movie and to inspire an audience on the beauty of taking a chance on your someone like you.
