Although I’ve mainly written Paranormal Romance, witches, or vampires, I wanted to branch out and see if I could write other genres. Maddie Stone Reveals All is the latest of my novels.
It’s the story of a woman who has spent a lot of her adult life as a groupie for some of the most famous bands in the business. I’ve taken true and real stories from real bands that were explicitly told to me by the girls who were backstage and touring with the bands.
I had to obviously change the names and a few of the details for legal reasons. Maddie has a lot of secrets to tell about the business and wants to put it all in a book but she’s unable to put pen to paper. So, after a talk with a publisher, she agrees to tell her story to another writer and what she discloses is shocking, funny, and heartbreaking.
What inspired you to write the book?
I’ve had this idea in my head for a while. I’ve gone to concerts and looked at the girls that get picked by the roadies to go backstage and I’ve always been curious about them. I’ve even spoken to these girls before the concert even started and then as they left the venue with the band.
They have a story to tell. It’s not always about sex but of course a big part of it is. The graphic way they describe their work is an eye opener. I’ve always thought this was a story that needed to be told.
What is your target audience for the book?
My target audiences about my book Maddie Stone Reveals All is for Adults that interested in rock bands and music. Haven’t we all fantasized about that rock star looking down at us from the stage and holding out his hand for you to join him? This is a story about a world that we know nothing about. It’s a warts and all story that will give you a new way of looking at these women and that will appeal to those curious in understanding that world.
Sex sells as they say, perhaps this one will be seen as an actual story and insight as well as maybe describing some of the pleasures that they gave. It’s definitely an adult themed audience.
What do you hope readers could get out from your book?
I’d like to think that they will look at these women now with a fresh outlook. A completely new understanding into their life. They’ve been branded something they’re probably not and it’s time to let them know that they get the bands charged and ready for that explosive concert you’ve paid good money to see. There’s a moral story in this book Maddie Stone Reveals All, it does paint the life backstage and it’s not all pretty, but there is another side to it too and I hope that it comes through with Maddie.
What are your future goals/plans for the book?
For now, I’d love to get more reviews. I’m quite willing to send out free copies in exchange for fair and honest ones. It’s more ethical to do it that way. I’m marketing the book as best I can but would love to have some help and get it as high as I can in the Amazon book charts. I’d like to also get a script together someday so that I can pitch the idea to a Producer.
Maddie Stone Reveals All is a great story, it’s full of sex, drugs and rock n’ roll and needs to be told. Yes, it’s very graphic in places, but the music business is a hard business and it’s not all pretty. Maddie Stone is a great character. She’s funny and down to earth and it’s hard to hate her even if she chose a life that is not considered normal by our standards and something more about yourself.
I live in Cardiff, Wales, home to castles, mountains, rugby, Doctor Who and Torchwood, with my partner and two little mad dogs and I worked for a well-known TV broadcasting company.
I love living in Cardiff because, for all its modernization, there are still remnants of an old Victorian city. I love writing and will always base my stories in Cardiff because it has such character. When I can, I go out to the coast (I recently bought a little place in West Wales, right by the beach) and take photographs. We have a lovely castle in the center of Cardiff and a beautiful fairytale castle just on the outskirts, so when I feel I can’t write anything, I take a ramble to those locations, and it clears my head.
I have a TV production background. I used to be a professional photographer and decided to move into the TV world. I started off working on our local news programmed and then moved on to Arts, Factual, Drama, back to Factual, back to Drama (Torchwood, Dr Who and a few regional shows) and then decided to move to the marketing side of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (who produced some of the amazing music for well-known TV shows – Doctor Who for example), mainly so that I could learn a little more about marketing which would help when promoting my work. I chose to take voluntary redundancy in 2021 and I am now a full-time author and loving every minute.
