Upholding a relationship with Christ means all worthy believers should maintain good and faithful servants’ relationships with each other and with God.
The basis for being a Christian is that all believers are cognizant of the fact that the miracles and beauty in their lives are the result of the grace and mercy of God. There is a saying among Christians that their faith is “not a religion, but a relationship.” This is because to be Christian is to be forever thankful for the glory of the Lord and eternally penitent for the sacrifice of Christ.
For the love of God, Christians are in an intimate relationship with Christ and strive to spread his word whenever possible.
The Christians know deep in their hearts that life and the road to its success is only through a good and faithful servant’s relationship with the Holy Spirit. The honest Christian is keenly aware that the whole story of the Bible and the basis for everything wonderful in this world is that God is the Absolute Truth. Thus, it is extremely critical that the Christian’s relationship with God is one of piety and gratitude.
For the Love of God
Of course, this is not to say that one’s relationship with Christ is akin to a one-way road. The beginning of all relationships with God is love, and true love is reciprocal. It is evident from his revelations that Christ himself wishes to also establish a relationship with his children, meaning that inherent in becoming a Christian is possessing a personal relationship with Christ and a mutual bond with the church.
Foundational to any relationship, especially with Christ, is for it to be strong and healthy. This means becoming a better person to better provide for the other party. However, this premise is quite difficult for Christians since God is already in a state of absolute perfection. Yet, it is precisely because of this is so that Christians should have the humility to accept their flaws and overcome their struggles, remedying all possible barriers to their relationship with Christ.
Upholding a Relationship with Christ
A Christian is a servant of God. On their shoulders is the weighty responsibility of being committed, disciplined, and learned of Christ’s teachings. Essentially, being a Christian involves:
- Following the commandments set by God.
- Living a life that is in accordance with God.
- Sharing one’s testimony of God.
In a Christian’s daily life, here are the things they can do:
- Study the Bible. As the only written words left by God on Earth, the Bible is the ultimate guide on how to live a life that is in accordance with the morals of God. So, it is crucial that reading the Bible becomes a regular act, as is the consequent meditation on the profundity of its words.
- Pray to God. Prayer is the most basic and most important method of communication with the Lord. While its effects do not often come quickly, it is important to pray regularly, especially in matters where a Christian is looking for guidance. For all aspects of one’s life, prayer can be done. Remember, God, too, wishes for an honest relationship with His children–and it is through prayer that a Christian can ask for forgiveness and express their gratitude.
- Trust in Christ. Why do people go into relationships? Because they trust the other party. Being a Christian means trusting God, not merely because He is all-powerful and all-knowing, but because He has one’s best interests in mind. Trust the direction that he points to and trust in the Words He offers.
