We are all, in our own specific ways, looking for God. Some people may deny this, but this is invariably the case. There may be visualizations of God that differ from what we expect Him to be, but God is still God, nevertheless. From the moment we are thrust upon this world until the moment we leave it, we are always in search of God.
Finding Blue Skies in Youth
Our pursuit of God–while we may not have been conscious of it then–actually begins during childhood. This is especially so when one is born into a household of active faith. When we have parents, grandparents, or any relative who exposes us to the faith, we learn about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit at a very young age. These lessons are strengthened further by church, prayer, and many more.

However, this burgeoning connection can often be vulnerable and easily severed. When we let ourselves wander aimlessly, we may begin to question our beliefs with no one to help us discover those answers. At best, it may take a few years to go down the right path. At worst, there is a chance that one turns away from God altogether.
As such, it is pivotal that our initial journeys be done with someone who has already traveled far and wide. This is equally important during one’s adolescent years as well. During this period of struggle, we are hampered and burdened by new experiences, relationships, and responsibilities. A guiding hand is better than a stray path.
The teenage years are always a time of tests. You have to pass exams and avoid social stigma while also at the same time overcoming trials of faith. It’s easy to feel lost during this time; however, where there are moments of difficulty and burden, there are also chances for spiritual growth. When we find ourselves falling into a pit, God may reveal Himself to us and guide us to salvation.

Finding Blue Skies During Adulthood
When we graduate from the carefree atmosphere of youth, we transition into the more troublesome age of adulthood. Here, what teenage hang-ups we bring may become larger and more intrusive problems. This grows only larger when we begin to question the choices we’ve made in life and come into confusion about what our true priorities should be.
This is when the true journey begins when the soul is active and yearning for something more. If, by this time, one has yet to fully commit themselves to God, this is often the time when a lot of people begin. During childhood, there was merely an awareness of Christ and his love for us. Throughout adolescence, there was the acknowledgment of the light of the Holy Spirit. It is when one becomes an adult that there is a true vision of God, where the individual knows what they have to do and begins to walk towards it.
The walking continues through old age because God is not a destination. God is both the end and the journey. He is also the beginning. What this means is that what we define as a journey toward heaven is merely a better understanding of His nature.
The Lifelong Journey of Finding God
The pursuit of the divine and the spiritual lasts a lifetime. There is no phase in an individual’s life where they are exempt from this yearning. There is no point in one’s life that one can truly cast away one’s need for and of God. And there will be challenges and rewards throughout.
Yet, it is a journey that is worth a lifetime.
Finding blue skies forever is something that is actively worked on. This is what finding God is like: lifelong and life-changing.
