In the ecosystem, plants, animals, and other organisms work together to form life. It includes the weather and landscapes. More and more people have been using natural resources. With human interactions in nature, its capacity to support has plummeted.
As the population rises in number, more and more people need consumption. The flow of material in nature meeting the rising demands for resources is devastating. Humans have abused nature to its fullest capacity for years by growing plants and keeping animals. These activities necessitate deforestation, degradation of the land, and loss of biodiversity, which contribute to pollution, which has the most significant impact on the ecosystem.
Rivers flow freely, supporting millions of people, but the ocean has changed because of overfishing. Pollution in the ocean has caused runoff from agriculture and excessive use of plastic. Over the years, humans have taken live corals on reefs which are homes to some of the most diverse ecosystems. Humans have disrupted the richness of planet earth and its ecosystem’s diversity. It diminishes and threatens many endemic species in the world.
The overpopulation also increases emissions which contributes to air pollution. Hence, overpopulation and population density decrease the quality of air. People live on planet earth, where millions die because of heart disease, lung cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, and stroke. These emissions also irritate the eyes and throat and trigger allergies and asthma.
Overpopulation increases the emission of air. Burning fuels releases gases and chemicals into the air when carbon dioxide and methane raise their temperature to dispense air pollution.
Smog dispenses heat emissions from combusting fossil fuel which reacts to sunlight, so the weather is warmer, making more ultraviolet radiation. Another contributor to air pollution is soot. Air pollution is made up of smoke, chemicals, allergens, and dust in solids or gas. Smog and soot come from cars, factories, trucks, engines, power plants, and anything that combusts fossil fuels such as gas, natural gas, or coal.
Land pollution contaminates the land. When we hear about land pollution, the first thing that comes to mind is trash. The trash that we throw away and the waste products that factories do diminish the quality of the land. The majority of the garbage goes to the ground or landfill.
Mining produces large holes in the ground that causes erosion and releases toxic chemicals into the soil. Agriculture destroys our ecosystem and the habitats of animals.
Farming produces land pollution when the farmers use chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides. The waste from livestock pollutes the soil. Factories produce a lot of garbage and waste that are damaging chemicals to the land.
Protect Our Planet Earth From Destruction
The first practical thing to do is the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Reducing means cutting back the trash you throw away.
Let us reuse the things that we throw away. An example is the use of bags instead of plastics. For instance, when we go to the grocery store, instead of letting the store pack our things in plastic bags, we bring bags so that there is a need to use plastics. When packing food, you use Tupperware for the food or leftovers or bring utensils instead of using plastic forks and spoons to eat meals.
We have to shop wisely, keeping in mind the three R’s. When you go shopping, buy things that are easy to recycle. Save the planet, browse through solar geoengineering novels, and buy in bulk and not wrapped in a single serving. Use different compost bins to segregate your waste.
The leaves and the trimmings of the yard can be used as compost. You have to go paperless. Presently, many bills are already received online rather than by mail. Let us reduce the clutter or junk in the house or offices. You can also volunteer for clean-ups in the community.
Educate yourselves and help others understand the importance of natural resources. Let us conserve water because the less water you use, the less runoff water and water waste go into the ocean. You have to learn to buy seafood wisely.
Use energy-efficient light bulbs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and long-lasting. When you are not using the lights, aircon, computers, etc., switch it off. Use non-toxic chemicals in your home and office. Let us bike more. It helps lessen air pollution while it is a good way of exercising.
Plant trees because it provides food and oxygen. Planting trees helps save energy. It cleans the air. Most of all, it helps lessen the pollution around us.
Humans destroy nature in our everyday life. Human’s immense desire for material consumption is a consequence that pays a high price. Save the earth. Save our planet.
