Greetings Authors’ Lounge and all book enthusiasts! I am (currently) an indie author under the name Abby Alison.
As far back as my memories go, I’ve always been reading. Back then, my philosophy was this: Libraries are heaven’s gift to mankind. In my childhood, I anticipated with intense delight every trip to an enchanting Palace of Story – a library – that would always be filled with bookshelves upon bookshelves bursting with books.
The Birth of “Faraway” – A Dream Turned into Reality
I neither confirm nor deny the image of little me pressing her face into the pages of a book to inhale its sweet aroma. (Yes, books do have an aroma to be extracted and made into perfume!) Undeniable truths aside, what inspired me to write Faraway?
Sharing Stories with the World
It could have been one of those movie-like dreams I tend to dream from time to time – but what I do remember clearly though, is this: sitting down with a cute pink-and-blue elephant covered notebook during the turbulent year of 2020, and writing a book for myself to read.
Abby’s Publishing Journey
In fact – I purchased a giant binder as well as several packs of paper, pencils, and pens to write books in my free time solely for me to read. But then it occurred to me. Wouldn’t it be so much funner (that should be a word!) to share my stories with the world? Writers should always write what they want to read, but keeping it to themselves afterwards is selfish, no doubt.
Hopes and Dreams for “Faraway”
Therefore, this year you can say I’ve been on a self-publishing spree – evicting most of the handwritten stories from their lazy existence squishing each other between the glittery covers of my golden binder. The purpose? To gladden the lives of as many of you as possible. You’re a part of that number, dear reader.
An Adventure That Awaits You
As for my plans for Faraway? Who knows, maybe one day it’ll make it onto the shelf of an enchanting Palace of Story with its own sweet pages for a young adult like me (as well as the young-at-heart) to bury their faces in! It also would be an honor for it to grace a bedroom bookshelf in the ‘favorites’ section – or lounge in the library of a kindle eBook reader. Hopefully this story is as good as any handcrafted, homespun delight.
