What is your book about? Fallen is the second instalment of the Love in Norfolk trilogy. It follows an enemies to lovers theme and focuses on the relationship between Jenna, a shy, vulnerable girl who falls in love with Nixon, the bad boy next door. It is very much a story of opposites attract with a variety of obstacles in the way; one major challenge being the ongoing battle between both families over a portion of unclaimed land.
What inspired you to write the book? Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was an inspiration for this story. I enjoy writing conflict and difficult scenarios for my characters to overcome. The path to love is never straightforward, especially when consistently tested by external forces, such as interference from family and friends. I am extremely passionate about love and relationships and several of the scenarios which appear in Fallen are from real life experiences. I write what I know and draw creative material from true events.
What is your target audience for the book? My book is targeted at young/new adult, 16+. All my books are coming of age stories and speak to anyone over that age. I do have a significant portion of middle aged readers who enjoy being transported back to their younger years by immersing themselves in my stories.
What do you hope readers could get out of your book? My stories are all about escapism. They are written to allow the reader to either experience the journey as a bystander looking in, or as the main character themselves. Through books, you can be whoever you want to be.
What are your future goals/plans for the book? All characters appear in each book of the Love in Norfolk series and follow a similar timeline but are written from different perspectives. Fallen is due for release in November 2023 and will be followed by Savage which is due for release in March 2024. Boundaries, the first book of the series was released earlier this year and it is the intention to tie all stories together in the epilogue of Savage. I am aiming on having a book trailer produced for both series of books I have written which will feature on You Tube Shorts. I also have a book promotion which I will be airing on TikTok.
Once Savage is released, I will be taking a short break before starting a new project late 2024.
Tell us a bit about yourself. I have been writing since I was fourteen years old. I enjoy reading a variety of different genres but have only ever written romance, which is what lights me up. I am extremely passionate about love and relationships and relish writing flawed characters that redeem themselves during their journey in my stories. I did attempt to write a horror story years ago. I reread this lately and it was hilarious, about as scary as a sock puppet! I live in Yorkshire with my two poodles, Morris and Daisy and enjoy reading, writing, watching movies and the occasional game of sudoko. I feel honoured to have been asked to submit an article for Authors’ Lounge.
