My name is Vanessa Stephens. I am a 43-year-old mother and a grandmother of three.

Born and raised in Louisiana, I am from a small town in Mississippi, where I spent my weekends with my dad in Mississippi. I love spending time with my family when I am not writing. One of my favorite summertime activities is going to the river with my children and grandchildren. Some of my past-time hobbies also include sitting back and relaxing with a hot cup of coffee as I come up with the perfect words to put down on paper. As an author of three books, I wrote erotica which I co-wrote with my mom, and a family drama, being published on August 16, 2021. I also have a children’s chapter book called Emily and the Magical Ferret.

What Inspired Vanessa Stephens?

A little about Emily and the Magical Ferret. While staying with her aunt, 10-year-old Emily’s birthday is fast approaching. She only wants one thing: her parents to come home. Unable to grant her wish, Emily’s aunt gets her a small ferret for a birthday present. Little did she know that the ferret was a magical creature. When Emily needs it the most, the ferret takes her on a magical journey.

My niece inspired me to write Emily and the Magical Ferret, who was almost eleven at the time. She was a big contributor to the book. I asked her what she would want to read in a book she wrote for her. She told me her thoughts, and I put them in words and came up with the book. It is targeted at children ages 8-12.

I am hoping this book takes off and becomes a big success. Not only would it be a dream of mine come true, but I plan to use some of the profits to help my niece when she gets to college age. It would be nice to show her that she can be whatever she wants with hard work and dedication. I want to inspire my niece to do and be anything she dreams of. Without my niece Emily, there would not be an Emily and the Magical Ferret book. I also want to leave a legacy my grandchildren can be proud of.

About the Book

Kingston Publishing published Emily and the Magical Ferret on July 29, 2021. This book by Vanessa Stephens is available through Amazon, Goodreads, Smash Word, my website, and Barnes and Noble. I am in the process of trying to get it on the shelves of every Barnes and Noble I can, I am also trying to get it in Books a Million stores and any other stores I can reach.

On Amazon, it is rated 4.8 out of 5. It has three five-star reviews and one four-star review. I started writing to teach children that bullying is bad. God doesn’t like it and would want them to be friends with each other.

 I am currently working on a third book to make it a trilogy, only waiting to hear back from the publishing company about book two.

I want to tell a little about Emily since she was a big contributor and an inspiration. She is a 13-year-old who is smart, funny, and most certainly wise beyond her years. Nobody is a stranger for her, as she cares for everyone, even the little critters. She is a tender-hearted person who wears her heart on her sleeve. At one time, she wanted to be a marine biologist and go to college in Florida, but now she wants to be the voice behind the actor in animation shows.
