Welcome, today’s article is sharing The Elite Series, Book One – Dragon Fusion which you can find at www.KarenCarnahan.com. I want to thank Author’s Lounge for their interest in my book and inviting me to do this article.

What is your book about?

Great question. It’s hard to turn so many words into a summary to express the nature of your craft without giving away all the juice details. However, you want to tell enough to entice the reader to pick up the book. Otherwise, all get lost before it even begins.

El was an average fifteen-year-old kid. Who set out for a quiet walk in her small-town park to relax before having to conquer an English report. However, El never expected to see sparks fly out from her fingertips…

Blindsided, El learned the truth of her identity, realized her whole life had been a lie, and wasn’t sure she was ready for the upcoming changes.

The family’s friend, a wizard, finds out he’s not powerful enough to train El. So, he recruits a fire-breathing dragon. Can El trust her teacher? Or does she have a choice if she wants to save her family as well as their Kingdom?

What inspired you to write the book?

Writing is something I enjoy doing. I would start with many stories. One day my husband says to me, you need to finish one. Thinking, ok, I would write a Novell to get my feet wet. Well, my husband had other ideas told me that if I was going to write, I might as well do the whole book.

Now, I need an idea for an entire book. So, sitting in my living room, there were two pictures on the wall. One was of Elves with dragons. Another was of Fairies. I wanted something different, so I added a bit of a twist. Boom! The next thing I knew, the story flowed into what is now Dragon Fusion.

Now, this wasn’t the way it all started; initially, the book was about the Elite Blue Dragon. However, I couldn’t find a book cover I liked with a Blue Dragon. Changes came about, The Elite Series formed, with Dragon Fusion being Book One. The dragon went from blue to black.

What is your target audience for the book?

Young Adults are the target audience. I want people from teenage years well into adulthood a chance to read my books. I don’t know about you, but I love reading books like these when. Especially when I was a kid, it inspired me about what I write today. One is never too old to read; now, I wouldn’t say my books are for below age thirteen for violence.

What do you hope readers could get out from your book?

The most important thing I want my readers to get out of my books is enjoyment. Life is so crazy these days. We all need a little time to climb on the couch or in a comfortable chair, open a book, and lose ourselves in its pages. To forget about the everyday life hustle and bustle that is going on around you.

What are your future goals/plans for the book?

To pave the way for the next book and the others that will follow in The Elite Series. I am currently working on book two. Book three and four have gotten laid out. This one book has sparked a fire to fuel turning my writing into my new career. There has been much studying to improve my craft to make future stories better than the last one.

And something more about yourself?

Mystical things intrigue me, always have since I was little, my parents fueling my imagination as I grew up. It is allowing me to stay young at heart. I believe this has helped me to keep my creativity alive. It doesn’t take long for me to come up with ideas. The hard part is turning the ideas into a plot that people will enjoy.

Now, my husband is at my side as I strive each day to make another book come alive. He never waivers when I get down. He is my lifeline that keeps me strong. In talking with other authors, I have found it is a learning process, like a new job. The more you do it, the better you get at it. My goal is to strive for as long as life allows me to see how good I can become. It would be my honor to have you along with me on this journey at www.KarenCarnahan.com.
