I’m a passionate author, actress, screenwriter, and award-winning filmmaker with a deep love for fantasy, sci-fi, and superhero stories. My storytelling journey began at a young age, and I’ve been fortunate enough to share my work through poems, short stories, and films. Whether I’m writing a novel or creating on screen, my mission remains the same: to immerse audiences in imaginative worlds full of heart and inspiration, sparking change in the real world. Now, I’m thrilled to share my latest creation—my young adult fantasy/sci-fi novel, Black Bug.
A Glimpse Into Black Bug‘s Dystopian World
Black Bug is a dystopian adventure that follows Samantha Ross a misfit teenager who discovers she has superpowers when fending off high school bullies. Lost in a world where she feels like an outcast, Sam’s trying to find her place, even though she’s a bit stranger than most.
She doesn’t have her parents around and lives under the care of an abusive guardian. All Sam has left is the dream to work at the most prestigious biotech agency in New York, which is owned by her science hero. James Wellson—one of the most influential personalities of the century. But when she unexpectedly saves Wellson’s son, her life takes a dramatic turn. Grateful for her bravery, Wellson invites her to join his agency’s youth security training program, promising better opportunities if she’s successful. His invitation seems like a dream come true. However, when Sam arrives at the agency, that’s where she soon learns that people with powers like hers are in danger and that to survive, she must uncover dark secrets and get to the bottom of what exactly is being plotted… before it’s too late.

This novel is perfect for those who enjoy fantasy intertwined with real-world themes like bullying, depression, love, and friendship. I believe in crafting stories that not only entertain but also resonate deeply with readers. Black Bug explores the struggles many young people face—fitting in at school, dealing with family challenges, getting a job, and finding their place in the world.

The story is set in a realistic New York City, giving it an immediate connection to readers, as if the characters could be people they might meet on the street. This grounded setting brings an urgent, immersive quality to the narrative, drawing the audience deeper into Sam’s journey.
A Personal Connection to the Story
I began writing Black Bug in 2014 when I was a kid, and over the years, the characters and their stories have grown alongside me. What inspired me to write this book was a blend of my love for superheroes and my own personal experiences. As someone who struggled with fitting in and battled loneliness and depression as a young person, I wanted to create a story that my younger self could have turned to for comfort and a new perspective on life. Black Bug is for the misfits—the ones who long for an escape and seek inclusion. It’s my hope that this book will provide a fresh outlook and a sense of belonging to anyone who’s ever felt out of place.
Writing this novel has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I’m deeply proud of the story and characters I’ve crafted. I hope that readers find the same joy and connection in these pages as I did while creating them.
