Black Ashes is a fictional story about Tina, daughter of a fallen high-ranking general, navigates a desolate world ravaged by nuclear war. With her mother, she hides from a tyrannical government that conscripts teens into armed forces. But when a relentless Goon hunts her down, Tina’s life takes a fateful turn. Her mother’s death leaves her in shambles, and she faces the daunting task of rebuilding her shattered existence.
Enter Arron, a charismatic leader preaching peace. Tina’s hope rekindles as she joins his movement. Yet, as she delves deeper, she discovers Arron’s vision isn’t what she expected. When he abandons her team during a perilous mission, Tina must make a harrowing choice: follow his path or forge her own.
As she embarks on a dangerous quest to save her team, Tina grapples with loyalty, sacrifice, and the true cost of survival. Will she emerge victorious, or will the ashes of her past consume her?
What Inspired Me to Write My Book?
The best way to explain what inspired me to write Black Ashes is getting older. I was playing basketball (HORSE) with my sons. I was getting my butt kicked so I decided to do a trick shot. I did a turn around jump shot with my eyes closed. As I landed I ended up twisting my ankle and needed surgery. After the surgery I couldn’t do anything. My family wanted to go camping that summer more than we usually do and I was bumbed I couldn’t do anything. I was watching the news and another author said the best way to write is to start. I started and the rest is history.
Who Is My Book For?
Black Ashes is targeting young adults. From about 12 and up. I do, however, think many people will like this book if they get the chance to read it. Of course I am biased to it. I hope that the readers get that you can do hard things. I am a teacher and have been struggling to get students to do hard things. I grew up in special education language arts classes and reading and writing was really hard for me. I have learned that doing the hard things helps one grow. So I am hoping my readers will see doing hard things will help you.
I was born in Canada and moved to Utah when I was 12. I have lived there ever since. I meet my wife at Snow college and we have been married since 1997. We have five children and two grandchildren. My family is the most important thing to me. I am hoping to show them you can achieve hard things as well with this book.
If you are still read this thank you for your time. I apperiate it. Please read my book and let me know what you think.
