Everyone has the right to good mental health, vital for personal, community, and socio-economic development. Mental health corresponds beyond the absence of mental disorders. It exists on a continuum and varies from person to person, with different levels of difficulty and distress. Stress This can have various social and clinical outcomes.
Physical health
Physical health is also connected to mental health. Regular exercise provides a sense of well-being, boosts energy levels, improves sleep quality, enhances memory, and promotes a positive outlook. It can also be beneficial for addressing common mental health issues.
Taking care of one’s physical health contributes to better mental health. Engaging in at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity, such as running, walking, yoga, dancing, cycling, or gardening, is recommended. Eating a balanced and nutritious diet is essential, as is getting enough sleep.
Relationships
The relationships we have, and our position in society greatly influence our mental health. Research shows that individuals with strong social connections are happier, healthier, and live longer. Having supportive family and friends is associated with better overall health. It is beneficial to make plans with loved ones, seek out activities where you can meet new people, or join clubs, classes, or support groups.
Be Kind to Oneself
When feeling down, it is common to be self-critical. Instead, practicing self-compassion can be helpful. If it is difficult to be kind to oneself, doing something nice for someone and acknowledging it can boost self-esteem.
Eat Healthy
Maintaining a healthy attitude towards food is essential for physical and mental well-being. Eating a variety of vegetables, fruits, and nutritious foods is encouraged. It is important not to obsess over food or consume excessive water. If the relationship with food negatively impacts mental or physical health, learning about eating disorders and seeking appropriate help is crucial.
Knapick Therapy Programs
Dr. Robert Knapick has been working on creating therapy programs since 1980 to help individuals overcome past problems and difficulties that have prevented them from enjoying life. He aims to provide people with practical coping tools to achieve happiness and success. In his book, “Choose to Happy!”, he explains that happiness is a choice and suggests rewiring the brain to think positively. To support this, he established the Knapick Therapy Programs, where he found that negative thinking is common because people lack the skills to rewire their brains and think positively. Through his experience in various settings, he has developed programs that can completely change people’s lives.
Dr. Robert Knapick’s initial projects involved working with individuals who struggled with drug dependency, depression, anxiety, and social instability. For his master’s thesis, he designed a program to assist individuals who had been unemployed for a long time and lacked stability. His research revealed that many of these individuals had unstable childhoods with inadequate role models. He discovered that one crucial skill they lacked was assertiveness. Therefore, his thesis focused on power and social skills training to equip the experimental group with the tools needed for success. Within four weeks, all participants in the experimental group found employment, while none in the control group did. The therapy programs marked the beginning of Dr. Knapick’s journey to provide individuals with tools to help them achieve success and happiness. Individuals can develop a positive and hopeful life by acquiring the necessary skills and training.
