A Christian Romantic Family Saga Novel Book 1 in The Barlow Trilogy
Within the pages of Barlow Definition of Flawless lies the romantic saga of Robert Barlow and Chasidy Weems. Barlow, a fifty-year-old self-made multi-billionaire is about to retire and spend some time traveling the world with his mother, Ethel Middleton. The drive behind his success is the pain and guilt directly stemming from the death of his young wife, Becky, twenty-six years ago. He hasn’t been able to look at another woman intimately since her death. She was in fact the Love of His Life. He first blamed himself for her death and second, the God they both believed in. In the grave she took with her, his undying love for her, his will to ever be happy again, and the faith he once had in God.
But Robert Barlow on the verge of his retirement meets a simple Christian country girl who patiently teaches him that nothing that ever happens surprises God. Not even the death of his wife or the massive empire (he thinks) he built for himself after her death. As their romance blossoms, he also learns that God Himself is full of surprises. He thought he had all that he wanted and desired in life after Becky. But God reached deep down into the depths of his heart, pulled out his most sacred desires and placed them in front of him. He couldn’t help but desire Chasidy at the very first sight of her. She was God’s key for opening the door to all of his buried and forgotten desires. Barlow may be retiring. But his life is just beginning.
My inspiration for writing Barlow: Definition of Flawless is simple. I love to write.
I love to write about love. However, I believe that you can’t really write about love without including the essence of love, God. God is love from beginning to end. He put the very first couple together. And he continues to put couples together. So I didn’t want to write about some hot and nasty sex driven affair, but rather, a couple who has allowed themselves to be led by God into a relationship ordained by Him; which is still very possible today if we leave our spiritual ears open and dare to listen and obey.
My target audience for this series is anyone who wants to enjoy a positive mature love story without all of the worldly lust front and center of the story.
It’s for people who might be on the verge of giving up on God sending them their perfect mate. NOTE: Barlow is far from perfect like the title implies. But he is perfect for Chasidy. And after reading this, they might conclude, maybe I’ll wait a little longer. I want people to get that God is Love. So who better is there to write a love story than God.
I hope that readers get joy out of my book. That’s why I filled it with humor to offset the sometimes sadness of life.
I hope that readers get a bit of escape from the routine of their day. That’s the role fantasy plays in the book and series. For those who like solving mysteries, I’m hoping the bit of mystery I’ve embedded intrigues them. But most of all. I want my readers to realize that God still has his hand in the middle of our lives. He’s still doing miraculous things every day. He’s still performing the unexplainable. Just like in the bible.
I can’t get enough of Barlow’s story. I might continue on with his and Chasidy’s saga to see how far I can go with it. I haven’t really decided yet. I do plan to keep writing Christian Novels that show the unlimited possibilities that God can provide if we keep our minds and hearts open to what He can do in our lives. I am a Christian. As a Christian, I like to keep the two things I love the most front and center in my life; my love for God and my love for writing. I can’t write about LOVE without writing about GOD. And I’m excited about Author’s Lounge running this article and helping me promote my book, Barlow: Definition of Flawless. Thank you so much Author’s Lounge!
