Lauralee Lindholm, author of Out of Darkness Into Light, shares her valuable insight into what her experience was like while she was living in the highlands of Ethiopia.
The book is a story of what life was like in Ethiopia, as Lauralee Lindholm and her team aimed to help everyone there. But we’ll leave out some more details about the book later because today, we’re here to talk about Lauralee. Join us as we understand what being called to His ministry is like in Lauralee’s life.
We’ll be discussing who Lauralee is, what her book is about, and what message readers can get from her!

Who Is Lauralee Lindholm?
Lauralee Lindholm is a high school valedictorian and a college graduate with honors. She has traveled around Africa with her husband on Christian missions for almost a decade. When they came back to the United States, they had acquired six languages and had many strong experiences with God that they wanted to share with others.
Lauralee continued to get a master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and worked as a teacher for almost 18 years.
Even now, after her retirement, she comes to Ethiopia regularly to assist the church, which arose from their early efforts as members of the development of community teams. She had also established a Heart for Ethiopia bookstore, which sold donated books and magazines. They have raised about $1,600,000 for Ethiopian children’s education and literacy promotion among women.
What Is Her Book All About?
Out of Darkness Into Light recounts the incredible events when the Lindholms formed a community development team determined to effect change. The tipping point occurred when, for the first time, an Orthodox Church priest read the Bible using his mother tongue. This realization sparked a metamorphosis, forcing him to publicly forsake his enchanted books in an incredible act of faith. Furthermore, this event, staged under a circus tent, represented a collective repudiation of darkness and acceptance of divine light.
Lauralee Lindholm’s narrative doesn’t beat around the bush and is all about revealing the terrible spiritual conflict that occurred. Lauralee powerfully recounts Satan’s troops’ resistance, reflecting the dramatic stories seen in the Book of Acts throughout the Bible. Despite the strong opposition, the locals experienced miracles and evidence that confirmed God’s presence and might. This story of what life was like in Ethiopia that Lauralee depicted then led to a far-reaching spiritual awakening.
Lauralee is telling an incredible tale, and her book will also be featured at the 2024 L.A. Times Festival of Books.

What Message Can People Get From Lauralee Lindholm?
The main message of Out of Darkness Into Light is deeply encouraging: God’s activity is not limited to the past. He continues to work miracles and give hope to those in need, just as He did while Jesus and the Apostles were alive. Lindholm’s book is a testimonial to the transformational power of faith and the notion that God cares passionately about each individual. Faith is pretty powerful and is even capable of revamping lives even amid hopeless circumstances.
Lauralee hopes her book will provide motivation and hope to believers enduring persecution. She hopes her narrative may direct anybody who hasn’t received God’s forgiveness and affection for Jesus Christ. Her narrative is brilliantly written and emotionally riveting, and it will soothe people who have become exhausted from feeling aloof in their Christian journey.
Out of Darkness Into Light is a fantastic read for preachers, missionaries, and anybody who has prayed consistently for God’s glory. Here are a couple of excerpts from the book:
• “The awakening in Menz that we had prayed for so long, had at last become a reality. The forces of Satan had been dealt a death blow. But the devil doesn’t give up easily. He fought back with every weapon he had, and he struck while the iron was hot, only a few days after the meeting.“
• “Seizing a chance to talk to us privately one afternoon, Priest Girma came quickly to the point. ‘I’ve been reading Acts,’ he began, ‘and it says in chapter 19 that everyone burned their magic books when they believed in Jesus. Do you think that was necessary?’“
