ANNABEL’S SAVIOR – Western Historical Fiction – Civil War Era
First of all I would like to thank everyone at The Author’s Lounge for enabling me to submit an article.
Annabel’s Savior is the story about loss and grief and how two strangers brought together by circumstance, heal each other.
Losing everyone he held dearly, Sam isn’t sure how he’s supposed to move forward but knows he has to do so if he’s to honor his brother.
Annabel ‘Belle’ is on the run from her grandfather, a cruel man who has made her life unbearable. She needs to learn to trust, but can she?
I had been writing for some time, mostly western historical romance, when the idea for Annabel was developed. I adore the Old West, thanks to my father’s ‘obsession’ and grew up watching every John Wayne, Audie Murphy, Randolph Scott, Gary Cooper, and so many others’ movies. I also devoured books on the subject and discussions with Dad sometimes ran late into the night even though I was still in school. It was Dad who encouraged me to indulge my love of the English language and the Old West to put pen to paper, and while he was alive, he was my greatest fan.
The target audience for Annabel is mature young adults and older. It is not Christian or Clean as many of my other westerns, particularly those in multi-author series, but I do weave my values throughout the story.
I hope reader’s find the story heartwarming and forgive any errors as this story is now twelve years old. It is still dear to my heart and I love the relationship between Sam, Annabel, and Button.
Now, to me…I started my writing career around 2013 with The Carter Brothers westerns but have since branched out into all sub-genres of romance such as Contemporary, Australian Contemporary, Gay, Mafia, Motorcycle, and Australian Historical under my pen name Annabel Vaughan has one story available at this time. I am not one to stay in my lane because I write from the heart and my imagination seems to know no bounds. My books have a great deal of my life experiences threaded throughout. Being married to a very senior Naval Officer for 50 years who served 51 years in the Australian Navy has made for a lot of travel and interesting experiences. 37 years in the field of nursing has also given me many interesting topics to weave throughout my many stories. Throw in 4 years in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, where voodoo, curses, and other strange customs were prevalent, and my Kumul Cartel Mafia series make for some interesting and at times factual reading.
Currently, hubby, our adorable Jack Russell-Gemma-Jean, and I wander the country with our caravan (RV for those in the US) and are what you would consider transients. This travel is giving me a great many story ideas. Our bricks and mortar, or rather weatherboard, two story home surrounded by magnificent gardens-no credit to me, that is known as ‘the church’ is in a small mountain village three hours north west of Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Australia. Currently we have a family member holding the fort so we have no need of worry while traveling.
As I touched on, I write in many multi-author western historical series and have books coming out over the next months that, although different series, will have the same characters threaded throughout.
I hope you consider my books to add to your pile and would love to know what you think.
