Alpha Swap

A Redemption Arc

As a writer of paranormal romance, I strive to bring new and exciting stories to my readers in a way that allows them to escape the reality of day-to-day life. I love to get lost in a good book and endeavor to provide that same level of immersion to my readers.

When I first decided to write Alpha Swap, I was inspired by another author who had written a very successful redemption arc, and I wanted to see if I could do the same. Initially, this book was very difficult for me to write. I had never written my male or female leads as despicable people, until this story. But there’s only one way to complete a redemption arc and that’s with a character who needs to be redeemed.

The Storyline

In Alpha Swap, my male lead, Tereshan, is an arrogant Alpha who thinks he has all the answers. He’s disappointed when he realizes on their shared birthday that his mate, Claire, is an omega and he promptly rejects her. Over the course of a year, Tereshan loses control of his pack and at the end of the year, their pack goes to war. Both Tereshan and Claire die during the war, but both are reborn one year earlier on their 18th birthday, now in the body of their mate.

Alpha’s Reign and the Struggle of the Omega

Claire becomes the Alpha of the pack while Tereshan is forced to live the life of an omega, learning what life is truly like for the omegas in his pack. The two will live through another year while Tereshan watches his mate manage the pack much more effectively than he ever did. However, Claire is unable to stop the war that occurred in the previous lifetime and once again, both Tereshan and Claire are killed during the war.

In their third and final lifetime, they wake up yet again on their 18th birthdays, back in their own bodies. They finally realize that only together can they win the war and survive to see their 19th birthdays.

Walk a mile in my shoes

I chose this type of scenario because it forces Tereshan to ‘walk a mile’ in Claire’s shoes. Through this process, he’s able to truly see what a terrible Alpha he was and to develop respect for the mate that he so callously rejected in the past.

Slvrdlphn reviewed this book and described it as Freaky Friday meets Groundhog’s Day. I find that to be a very apt description of this book.

Transformation and Empathy in the Wolf’s Shadow

Alpha Swap is meant for adult readers who enjoy the paranormal genre. It is heavily involved in the werewolf shifter world with wolves that have their own consciousness and can communicate with the humans whose bodies they share. In this book, the wolves play a key role in the lives of their humans and are ultimately responsible for their ability to relive their lives and try to make them better.

My hope is that readers of this book take away two key concepts. First, everyone can change; they just need the desire or incentive to do so. And second, you never truly know what someone is going through unless you’ve been in their shoes. Sometimes we can be quick to judge or make assumptions about people without really knowing who they are or what they are going through.

About Me

I’ve always loved the paranormal genre, werewolves and dragons in particular. I started writing three years ago when my husband encouraged me to put the stories that were constantly spinning around in my head on paper. I published my first books on the reading apps and now that I have developed a strong reader base, I have begun to move my books to Amazon.

Thank you to the Author’s Lounge for giving me this opportunity to share my book with a different audience.
