My name is Lorraine Buxton and I am the author of three books. I’d like to tell you a little bit about my first novel A Second Chance. 

This was published in 2022 but developed from an idea I had wanted to write about for a long time. During the Covid pandemic, I read an article that cemented the idea, finally, I felt confident enough to write it. 

The book is aimed at readers of contemporary romance, family life, and drama, but always with a twist. Life I so unpredictable, because of this we are able to witness the kindness, understanding, and nurturing of others in times of need. We also see miracles happen and dreams come true. I wanted my readers to feel a part of such a story. To understand how it must feel to wake up to a life you can’t remember. To be asked to acknowledge how we develop our sense of self, our identity, and our place in the world, how trust, love, anger, and suspicion color our view of who we are and where we belong. 

The Authors Lounge has given me this opportunity to tell you a bit about Ana and James, this is how their story begins.

Ana has been recovering in hospital after being in a coma for months following a terrible accident. Finally able to go home she is full of trepidation…. Ana has no recollection of the last ten years of her life.

 “ At some point today I am going to face leaving this place, to go to a home I no longer remember to share with my husband, the stranger.”

Ana knows James loves her because of the way he has cared for her, but for her all of this is new. James has tried to make this transition as easy as possible, but his life has changed so much too. He hopes Ana’s memories soon return because he has questions of his own, but he is also hiding something. 

“ It would just take time, but I wasn’t sure how much time I had, or how I could reveal the secret I had been keeping from her.” 

Love, life, and loss affect us all. I hope my readers can identify with my characters, and the resilience and hope they have for rebuilding their lives. Originally I wanted to call this book ‘Making Memories’ because of how the loss of our memories can affect our future. 

I loved writing this book because I love the idea of two people in a relationship that is developing from an old, and new perspective. No one knows what the future holds, but I think we all deserve A Second Chance. My journey as a writer is continuing, I am currently writing my fourth novel which will hopefully be out this year. For me, writing is a pleasure, and I am always touched by the reviews and comments people give me. 

If one person reads my book and recommends it to another that is remarkable. 

If one person reads my book and my words touch them, then I have reached my goal.
