What’s This Life All About Anyway? By LaPrele Jordan

The questions are often asked, “Where did I come from?”  “Why am I here?”  Where are we going?”  Who hasn’t wondered that?

When I was a little girl, I started thinking about such things and the Lord was kind enough to give me a daddy that knew a lot of the answers….so that what I’d like to do on  my Blog.  I’m so grateful to Reader’s Magnet for affording me this opportunity.

What I’d like to do is just try to explain what I’ve learned about these three questions as I have explored the scriptures and other good sources of information throughout my life.  These are just some of my own conclusions along with others.  Genesis starts out by telling us about the creation.  It doesn’t go into a lot of detail, just tells of what happened on each of the seven days of creation.  We know from the scriptures that one day with the Lord, is a thousand years with us.  We find from Genesis that man was made in the image of God and that Adam and Eve walked and talked with God face to face before they were driven out of the Garden of Eden.   Anyway, we move down to Moses and when he went up on Mt. Sinai and God talked to him from a burning bush, and he learned a lot more about God’s plan for the children on Israel.  What Moses learned helps so much in our understanding of the whole picture.  I don’t claim to be a scholar, I can only say I’ve tied to figure this out.  Even if I’m not right about everything, the truth is always still out there.

From Moses we learn that all things are made up on intelligence’s.  What are intelligences anyway?  Because they are unseen and very difficult to detect, there’s very little concrete evidence that they exist.  Scientists are now finding that there’s something out there that can’t be seen or heard, but they do exist.  Could they be more spiritual than temporal?  Apparently, the whole universe is teeming with intelligences.  Even Einstein finally came to the conclusion that there was some unseen matter that seems to be very vital in the make-up of things.  So when we read in John 1:1-3 he says that  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God  All things were made by Him: and without Him was not anything made that was made.”  I believe that the Word is Jesus Christ and He is the creator of this earth under the direction of the Father.  He had learned enough to command  the elements and they obeyed Him.”  When you go outside at night, (if you an get away from the city lights) and look up at the sky, what do you see on a clear night?  Billions upon billions of stars.  The sun has gone down and the moon is up there shinning bright for us.  It is either winter, spring, summer or fall.  The sun will come up exactly when it’s supposed to each morning and bring in another day and will set at the right time after the day is done…..day in and day out……year in and year out……century in and century out.  All things are done in order.  It didn’t just happen, God is a God of order and He ordered it that way.  Why?  For us.  If all things   are made up of intelligences, then why wouldn’t the obey HIm as He knew the laws that govern the Universe and He had progressed to the point that HE had the power and the knowledge necessary to create an earth out of the already existing elements.  In D&C 29:32 (Doctrine and Covenants, scripture that the LDS church uses) tells us that God created all t hings spiritually before He did physically,( Moses 3;  5-7.   This is from the Pearl of Great Price, an ancient scripture that Joseph Smith translated from a papyri that was found with an Egyptian mummy.)  God told Moses that worlds without end had He created.  (Moses 7:30-31) He created the galaxies, so when we think in that realm, we seem pretty insignificant, but are we really?  We are all His spirit children. We are his kids! And it’s for us that He created this earth!  He tells us in Moses 1:39  “Behold, this is my work and my glory to b ring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man”  If He did all this for us, then we must be pretty significant to Him.  He also says in D&C 93: “The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth.  Light and truth forsake the evil one.”  So, as you learn the truth,m and are obedient to Gods laws, you are able to overcome any evil.  What God wants more than anything else is for His children to be happy and experience joy to it’s fullest.  He has provided a way for us to do that by folowin His prescribed.  He has sent countless Prophets to try to keep us on track.  One of the best places to start is with the Ten Commandments.

Once I was listening to a minister preach a sermon and he made the remark that ‘we all came from nothing.’  That makes no sense all all to me.  How can that be?  There’s a song that goes “Nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could.”  That’s the gospel truth. How could it be otherwise?  My dad was so well versed in the scriptures and I knew that he loved our Lord and Savior with all his heart.  He was a very deep thinker and loved learning about higher, spiritual things.  He’d suffer an accident when he was forty-five that left him crippled for the rest of his life, thirtyi-five years.  He spent hundreds of hours studying and memorizing scripture.  He had a beautiful voice and loved singing hymns. This is his favorite hymn.

If You Could Hie to Kolob  (God’s home)

If you could hie to Kolob in the twinkling of an eye

And then continue onward with that same speed to fly

D’ye think that you could ever, through all eternity

Find out the generation where God’s began to be?

Or see the grand beginning where space did not extend

or view the last creation, where God’s and matter end?

Me thinks the spirit whispers, “No man has found pure space,

Nor see the outside curtains, where nothing has a place

The works of God continue and worlds and lives abound;

Improvement and progression have one eternal round.

There is no end to matter, there is not end to space

There is no end to spirit, there is no end to race,

There is no end to virtue; there is no end to might;

There is no end to wisdom; there is no end to light.

There is no end to union; there is no end to youth.

There is no end to Priesthood; there is no end to truth.

There is no end to glory; there is no end to love;

There is no end to being; there is no death above.
