Voice of Tears by Christian Branch

Voice of Tears is a powerful book addressing an unspoken truth that has affected millions for generations.  Sexual abuse.  Specifically, sexual abuse in men.  It is an unfortunate cycle of generational curses that needs to be broken!  This book journeys through the lasting impression of sexual abuse from childhood into adulthood from a male perspective.  You will see how everyday interactions can trigger trauma responses.  While the story is told by one man, you will see similar stories from other characters within the same circle.  Neither character knew what was happening to the other until years later.  You never know what someone else is dealing with in their lives.  The importance of awareness and support can make all the difference!  Let us not get so caught up in our own lives that we ignore a cry for help in others.

My inspiration for writing this book comes from personal experiences of what I have seen and heard.  Typically, we hear about sexual abuse happening to females.  The reality is that sexual abuse of males happens just as often but is rarely reported.  In either case, we never hear about the lasting effects of abuse on a child.  I am not saying that we should hear all the gore details of what the child has endured.  That is personal information, and no one needs that information but those directly involved with their treatment.  Instead of being so quick to judge a child as being lazy for the lack of energy they once possessed…or labeling a child as bad because their behavior has gotten out of control.  Everything happens for a reason.  Take a moment to consider the root cause of these changes.   Also, the daily struggles the child endures with being forced to relive the abuse through nightmares, contact with their abuser, or triggers.  It is heartbreaking!  You see the internal struggle happening inside them.  You want to remove all their pain; restore what was lost; and reignite their trust.  You see their desire to remove all the bad memories so they can get back to living life.  It is a long journey towards healing.  And their abuser!  The audacity of someone thinking it is okay to steal the innocence of a precious child is mind blowing!  Abusers have been getting away with it for generations because they manipulated the children into silence.  I am so proud of all the children who chose to use their voice and speak up against their abuser.  It is very important to speak your truth while breaking generational curses!

My target audience for Voice of Tears is young adults, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, caregivers, etc.  Everyone!  Everyone that has any type of interaction with children.  I want readers to gain awareness from this book.  I want them to pay attention and stop ignoring the red flags.  I want parents to stop being so quick to trust your children around everybody.  I want them to pay attention to the changes in their children.  Listen when a child tells you they do not like being around a certain family member or family friend.  Create a dialogue with children regarding the difference between good and bad touches.  I want readers to recognize the significance of these important discussions.  I appreciate the Authors’ Lounge for this amazing opportunity to spotlight Voice of Tears.

My future goal for Voice of Tears is to be turned into a movie and/or tv series.  I am currently working on more books that address important topics that are not discussed enough in society.  I plan to expand my creativity by venturing into writing children’s books, comic books, and scripts.  I am in the process of returning to school for the completion of my Bachelor of Business Administration in Management degree.  Also, I plan to start my own business.

The truth is very important to reveal in today’s society. Many people feel that it is okay to keep their mouths shut and keep secrets because “it’s not anyone’s business” or what happens at home stays at home”. But the truth is transparency is the key to helping the people around us (especially the young) to know what’s right and wrong and that they have access to the peace and safety that they may secretly desire. This book serves as a huge eye opener for both parents and children and I’m privileged to have read it!
