Trust is built on something that has been solidified over time and circumstance. However, giving that to someone you are unsure of is hard. How will you trust God after all that you’ve endured?
Have you ever wished God would do something with your situation? Are you struggling to see how He can work through your life when all you’ve gone through is suffering? Finding the light at the end of the tunnel seems complicated for anyone who needs to give their complete trust.
Countless instances explain the trust you must have for God. Maybe you have listened to a pastor or priest teach people about remaining in God in the most challenging times. While it is fitting that giving away the trust to the Lord looks simple on the outside, we need to take it a little further and explain carefully what it genuinely means.
How trusting God is like
Typically, putting our trust in the Lord means no one can tell the work He’s putting in for us. From a person’s standpoint, being in the dark may distort our circumstances and perspective. You may feel disheartened and depressed and feel like the world is better without you.
People share God’s goodness in delivering them from suffering and other dark times out of their personal experiences. What else would anyone derive much inspiration from, if not for revealing the grief, to reach out to others who feel the same?
Tips, prayers, and journal sessions are available to help you on your journey to power through the darkness. But reality spells it otherwise; because being in the dark means nothing is inevitable; it is a lifelong process of constantly believing without seeing.
The challenge of trusting God in the darkness
Every time, the world throws one struggle after another, making anyone experience moments of weakness. It is overwhelming, and having confidence in your relationship with God takes guts. It’s crucial to know that God loves us and he is in the midst of everything, especially the challenges we continuously face.
His sovereignty doesn’t always manifest right away, nor does it accomplishes its purpose of strengthening our trust in God overnight. When our lives feel out of control, our faith is an affirmation that solidifies our spiritual relationship.
When God is in control
When we say that “God is in control,” it’s not in a way that He is the puppeteer, and we are the marionette with our limbs on strings. The Lord is not interested in total mind control or authoritarian rule over our lives when we put our trust in Him.
God’s desire to be in a relationship with us paints a complete picture of this blind trust that we must put in Him, particularly in a dark situation. It’s also common knowledge that the worst events are part of God’s master plan in writing our story. Just like in the book “She Let God Write Her Story” by author Yelena Borichevska.
The author testifies about the darkest days in her life as a young girl after moving to the US from Ukraine right after 9/11. Her desire to live her life for God became stronger even after all the uneventful trials and challenges the author had to endure in her life.
The hardest part of trusting God
Understandably, we can never understand what God is doing when we’re in a dark place. We may even feel like God is being unfair to us. Because despite praying without ceasing, all we get in return is silence. Being in the dark may have clouded our judgment and belief in what God can do for us.
The message of trusting God in the darkness is that it’s not about the struggle but how we get through it and still have that choice to trust Him through all that is the key. When we’re at the bottom, that’s where we can indeed rise again from all the turmoil with the trust that we still give to God.
Growing our faith requires a great deal of effort on the internal aspect since certain situations can make us choose to give up (which is the easiest option) or make the most challenging choice of staying and trusting God despite getting nothing in return.
Recalling the blessings amid the storm
We receive all of God’s marvelous blessings when our lives are sunny. However, it’s easy to forget how He blessed us when we’re in a dim spot, a swamp of despair.
However, recounting everything God did for us and how He continues to be with us remains one of the best ways to navigate the dark. We know God has our best interests in mind when we can’t see what He’s doing. Being down in the dumps is not the end for us. We should remind ourselves that in a few dark chapters, God is in the middle of writing the most remarkable story in our lives.
