Time Paradox by Athena Stamelou

Time Paradox

Time Paradox is the second installment in the Tales of a Bounty Hunter series after The Last of the Time Lords. It picks up immediately after the events of the first book with Novah, the Time Lord, being held in captivity by the malevolent Witch, Minerva, and the Master of the Vampires, Yokai. The story follows a group of unlikely allies on a journey to free him in order to avoid disastrous consequences.

Astrid, who has just found out that her father has been cloning the council of Dinneilea struggles to accept the fact that she might not be real. On top of that she is betrayed by the only person she thought she could trust,  framed for the council’s murder, and leaving her with only one option – to seek refuge in the only place her race can’t find her, the enemy planet Larth.

In the meantime, the rest of the protagonists, the Bounty Hunter, Noemi, the Witch, Raven, and the Gypsy, Ramiel search for the location of the Time Lord. Noemi comes up with a rescue plan which involves Amora, the princess of Larth. With their forces combined, they execute their mission and bring Novah to their base. However, their troubles are not over.

Soon after, Ramiel starts getting visions of changes in the timeline, forcing Novah to conclude that his former capturers were successful in their own goal to achieve time travel and have traveled back to change the timeline. Knowing full well the consequences of altering time, Novah sends each person into a different time period tasked with stopping their enemies.

As each of the protagonists embark on their own journey, each one is forced to face their own personal demons, realize that perhaps they’re living in a time paradox, and unknowingly learn a lesson they’re going to need for a bigger threat that is yet to come. A threat that is more biblical than anyone could imagine.

Inspiration

As a science fiction and fantasy book lover myself, the concept of the trilogy Tales of a Bounty Hunter was inspired by my fascination with time travel and time manipulation, as well as my desire to showcase strong women. I’ve been a long time fan of Harry Potter, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings and other authors that have crafted such amazing fantastical worlds. This trilogy is my attempt to build a world of my own.

The series is available for purchase through Amazon.

Future plans

The first book, The Last of the Time Lords, was published in December 2020 with Time Paradox following in April 2022. I’m currently working on the third and final book of this series that will be titled Broken Time, which will see the conclusion of the story as the protagonists will take on the last threat. Broken Time is almost finished and is expecting publication this summer. However, no specific date has been set yet.

Afterwards, this universe will not be over. I have planned to release three more tie-in novels. One continuing the story of the witch, Raven, as she embarks on a journey to discover her roots. Another, the love story between Amora and Astrid, as they fight not only for their love but for peace between their planets. The third one, will be an anthology of short fairytale stories taking place on a magical planet Nialiv, which has been vital for the Tales of a Bounty Hunter series.

Readers and expectations

Young adults and full adults can enjoy the series if they are into the fantasy/sci-fi genre. I want my readers to appreciate the blend of science and magic through the worldbuilding and character journey. Each character has their own goals and their own lessons to learn, but the overall story is not made to preach to readers specific things. Each one is free to make up their own mind and take whatever they want from the story.

About the Author

I’ve been reading and writing since I was old enough to hold a book. The authors that most inspired me are Alison Noel, Cassandra Clare, J. K. Rowling, Lauren Kate, Tolkien, and George R. R. Martin among others. My first attempt to write a full novel was at age 14, an admirable attempt that made me realize I needed more practice. I’ve written two books in my native language, Greek, one of which was published but I decided to take it down because it was a Greek comedy and I wanted to focus on writing fantasy in english.

I appreciate ReadersMagnet’s Authors’ Lounge for giving me the opportunity to showcase my work on their site. It’s really wonderful that they have made their blog available for self-published authors.
