First, I appreciate the opportunity for ReadersMagnet’s Authors’ Lounge to be available to self-published authors. Secondly let me introduce you to my Historical Fantasy Novel: Three Headed View.

I grew up when the first Conan the Barbarian and Kull the Conqueror movies appeared. It piqued my interest in Fantasy which led me to the world of Robert E. Howard’s stories and the Weird Tales Anthologies. Thirty years ago, I started upon the idea of my own fantasy world of barbarians. It began in my head, gradually was scratched out on scraps of paper, and then developed slowly as a short poem, a ballad, a short story, and finally into a completed novel.

My novel, Three Headed View, begins immediately in the middle of an invasion into the mountainous country call Tunjii. Iraddi.

A physically tortured, but mentally exquisite leader over a murderous barbarian army, has established a foothold on the eastern mountains and has begun occupation of the valley lands of Tunjii. Strong resistance is led by three miners who infiltrate the ranks of Iraddi’s army and almost succeed in an assassination attempt. Iraddi’s army drives the resistance back and the three miners are finally defeated and beheaded.

Their heads are mounted to poles and placed in a field, later described as the Field of Sorrows, as a tribute to Iraddi’s dominance. From their new viewpoint (Three Headed View) they keep silent watch over the expansion of the new Kingdom of Iraddi as he establishes a new age of dominance and embattles personal woes, agonies, and triumphs, against the nations of Phistia, Krakev, Xonevolle, Advicohl, and eventually Cortezca. Standing in his way, causing as much grief as they can to his expansions, lies a clandestine group dedicated to the memory of the Three Lonely Heads called Riaflech Alak Emmandus (Protector of the Three), who partner with other resistance fighters throughout his conquered nations to attempt to topple his empire.

Yet through the ages, the Three Lonely Heads are secretly kept preserved and hold a fantastic sway over the mentality of Iraddi and his eventual successor. What was meant as a reminder of Iraddi’s dominance, the Three Lonely Heads, now serve as a memorial of resistance and perseverance to a former life.

Filled with hand drawn maps of the Kingdom of Iraddi and the countries of conquer, Three Headed View is available in the following formats: eBook, Paperback, Hardcover.

D.R. Rushing lives in Central Maine. Father of two and married to the love of his life for 25 years. He enjoys writing poetry, short stories, and novels, as well as collecting antique bibles and travelling. You can often find him lost in thought in a world yet to be written.

Check out his other books:

Killing By Mercy: A fictionalized story of a nurse, Jenise Dara Morsey, but it is based upon true accounts.Being in the nursing field for over 25 years has brought the author face to face with some nurses that were quite possibly Mercy Killers (Death Nurses).

There were some questionable instances that gave enough concern for them to be turned over to Hospital Administration and the State Board of Nursing. Killing By Mercy delves into the mind of one such completely fictional account of one Mercy Killer, based upon actual true crime events, and then deals with the psyche of that killer as she deals with the euphoria from her kills.

It introduces you to the Medical field, its cerebral, and because it deals with the after effects of the kills, it is occasionally dark and risque, but it is designed to bring about the awareness of the minds and lives of Mercy Killers.  Killing By Mercy

Rampant Thoughts: A collection of poetry ranging from love found, love lost, the mental breakdown or the mind, newfound religion, and a few historical ballads mixed in. The hardcover edition contains never released poems (approximately 10 additional ones) than the softcover or eBook versions. Rampant Thoughts
