The Women with Blue Eyes: Rise of the Fallen is an Urban Fantasy story about a group of fallen angels masquerading in women’s bodies with blue eyes and attacking black men for their power. The story takes place in Chicago, where the case of murdered men falls into the lap of detective Tina, who lost her nephew in an alleged drug deal gone wrong. Later, she discovers something more supernatural is at work, and her nephew’s death is more connected than she realizes.

I liked how Tina, the main character, is thrown into the fray against evil without any warning and has to question her own sanity which is also being questioned by those around her.”

This is a story of the battle not only between good and evil but against the seen and the unseen. As Tina’s boss Juan and the others struggle to make sense of these deaths, they are blinded by their own inability to consider that something more spiritual is at work.

Tina is visited by an archangel named Azbuga who introduces her to Paschar (pushar), the lead fallen angel of vision. Now, she is limited, capable only of extracting energy from mortal men to maintain her longevity in the fleshly body.

Azbuga is here to alert Tina of her next mission, to save Jason, Paschar’s next victim.

Together Tina, Jason, and Az must take down Paschar’s legion in a battle with serial killers beyond this realm.

The Inspiration Behind The Women with Blue Eyes

Toni Morrison said, “If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” That’s the biggest inspiration behind most of the books I write because they are stories I want to read but have not found.

For this book, in particular, I have always loved stories with crazy twists and turns. Examples are movies like The Sixth Sense and Shutters Island. These movies are unique because you think one thing is happening, and then you are hit with this crazy twist you didn’t see coming.

I also never planned on writing this book, let alone publish it. I am a Historical Fiction Author and Poet, so fantasy has not been my thing. At the same time, this kind of story isn’t entirely new for me. In 2014, I wrote a screenplay with similar elements, but have since retired it.

One day, I decided to play around with the old screenplay. I took the skeleton of that book and remixed it with a fresh, urban spin. I shared chapter after chapter to my blog as something fun to do, and to my surprise, people loved it. It wasn’t until I was about eighteen chapters in that I decided I had better turn this into a novel so people could read the full story!

Target Audience

My target audience for The Women with Blue Eyes are black men and women over the age of 18 who enjoys urban fantasy fiction set in today’s world featuring unique supernatural challenges.

What I Hope Readers Would Get Out of the Book

I hope readers would walk away from this book with a sense of curiosity about the spiritual world. I hope something in this book would compel people to ask questions about things they never really thought about before. For instance, there has been an increase in UFO sightings lately, producing an ongoing debate about the legitimacy of alien life. I hope this book would encourage people to look deeper into things like that. What does the scripture mean when it says we wrestle not against flesh and blood but principalities against authorities, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual matters of wickedness in the heavenlies?

My immediate goal for this book is to turn it into a series. There is so much potential to flesh this story out, and I think it would be exciting to explore all the subplots. I would also love it if it could one day become a movie or TV series! (*Winks at Jordan Peele*)

About The Women with Blue Eyes:

When Tina’s nephew, Ronnie is killed, she is left to care for his siblings and to solve a series of mysterious murders involving only black men. Investigating each murder thrusts her and her team into a world of deities, demons, and fallen angels, leading Tina to battle a serial killer beyond this realm.

Yecheilyah has been writing since she was twelve years old and publishing since 2010.
