The Voice of the Library Community in New York & Beyond

Being a voice is advocating for a particular belief, campaign, or movement. This is especially significant in an era of misinformation and disinformation. This is where the librarians and the Voice of the Library Community come in.

The Voice of the Library Community is the organization of librarians that will be hosting the conference and trade show on November 3-4, 2022, in Saratoga Springs, New York. The entity we’re referring to is no other than the New York Library Association (NYLA). Aside from promoting libraries, NYLA is an advocate of many social, legal, and political issues. The subjects include the #BlackLivesMatter, COVID-19 vaccination, and voting rights. Hence, they are dealing with matters affecting not only the community of librarians but the bigger society as well.

Credible Affiliation

NYLA is connected with the American Library Association (ALA) as the New York Chapter of the world’s oldest and largest library association. The membership includes librarians of public, system, school, college, and university, and many special libraries, library trustees, and friends of libraries. They have already reached several thousand members from 43 in 1890. The constituents comprise the libraries of New York State and other state and institutional organizations across the country.

Being affiliated with credible non-profit organizations makes NYLA an exceptional host for the 2022 Conference and Trade Show for librarians, academics, authors, publishers, students, and other stakeholders in the industry of information gathering and book publication.

Reliable Information

NYLA aims to develop, promote and improve information and library services and librarianship to enhance the quality of life, learning, and equal opportunity for all New Yorkers.

The good thing with our modern time is having the chance to live with the power of technology that breaks walls and bridges gaps across lands, seas, and even continents. Information nowadays is not already exclusive to print books and newspapers. Information can now be available to the public via digital platforms, such as blog sites and social media sites. Thus, being a voice or advocate in our time can now create a bigger impact with the bigger audience involved.

With that in mind, the 2022 NYLA conference offers opportunities not only for the New York-based librarians but also for the consumer of information throughout the United States and the world.

Ongoing Innovation

Referring to the Conference & Trade Show in November this year, Beth Merkle, the current NYLA President, stated that it’s an exciting time for our library association, and we are optimistic about NYLA’s future – and the future of our members and members’ libraries. “The past two years,” Merkle added, “have taught us that change is inevitable and humbling and that our strength is in coming together to rethink, rework, and reinvent what we have known.”

Similar to the 2022 ALA Annual, the NYLA Conference is committed to updating librarians, exhibitors, and fairgoers with state-of-the-art information gathering and preservation innovations. Hence, aside from taking advantage of the opportunity of book marketing, authors and other participants will have the chance to know the possible technologies and practices in publishing books and preserving reliable information.

In addition to the NYLA event, ReadersMagnet also offers Book Confab and Virtual Book Fair. The RM Book Confab will happen in Tribeca, and the Book Fair will be an online companion event.
