The Suicide Merchant is a fantasy thriller, and the debut novel by author Cheyne Peck.

Imagine, if you will: Something happened in your life recently- a turning point so horrifically dramatic that everything you saw as good and fruitful and pleasurable rotted in front of your swelling eyes. Picture your life as it becomes soiled, torn apart in ways you couldn’t control. Friends become enemies. Family becomes strangers. Every warm, happy thought finds themselves sinking in the thick, consuming tar of depression and hopelessness without a glimmer of resolution.

Now picture yourself standing there alone, feet at the cusp of demise by a willfully tragic fall. Clothes flap like tattered flags as the cold concrete burns the tissue under your feet. Your toes begin to curl over the edge as a bitter wind slaps your face again and again, taunting you, pushing you to take one final step and just be done with it all. What’s worse is part of you wants to. Part of you thinks there is no other way. And so, you gulp down a breath, hold it, and close your eyes, breaking off one trickling tear, committed to the expectation that this would be the last time you will ever feel a tear drop or the dark side of your eyelids again.

Suddenly you hear him call you by name. Your eyes break open as you turn to see this young stranger appearing out of an invisible mist like a specter taking form. He calls to you, not as a stranger, but almost like a friend- a long lost friend who you have forgotten but they have remembered. His face is dressed in an unsettling pleasant concern, one that breaches your skull and latches to your mind. His eyes glint with a deep awareness of your suffering, so much that you feel like he has been there with you through it all. Gingerly, he reaches out a hand to you, palm up, fingers splayed naturally and sympathetic. You step back just enough to take it only for him to pull you in and embrace you fully. Warmth floods your body. Electricity surges from your fingers and toes, tingling the verves. With a gasp you feel it, the change. Somehow something has changed.

About the Book: A captivating thriller about Ben Weaver, a young man who has a supernatural gift; he has premonitions of people on the verge of committing suicide and uses his premonitions to track down these people and prevent their suicides through a miraculous yet terrifying exchange. However, to complete these exchanges, he must experience their deaths himself. One day, Ben experiences a vision more sinister than any he’s had before, the horrifying fate of many before it happens.

“The Suicide Merchant” is a story about acknowledging the importance of each other. It is about our ability to care about people so much that we are willing to step out on that ledge with them and offer hope when it feels like there is no hope to be given. If only we take the time to see the hurt in those around us and let them know that there is someone out there that truly cares.  About the Author: Cheyne Peck was born and raised in Santa Clarita, CA, with his eleven siblings. He had an early passion for music, but story telling had always been in the back of his mind. Adding chapters to his favorite stories. Daydreaming about fantastic adventures and “what if” scenarios. However, it wasn’t until receiving a copy of ‘Fahrenheit 451’ from his high school English teacher that he grew an interest in fiction and, later in life, began to focus his attention on writing and storytelling. “The Suicide Merchant” is his first novel to be published. Cheyne Peck now resides in Dallas, TX, with his two daughters and is currently working on his next novel.
