The Raven Moonstone by Valerie Jane

My debut novel, The Raven Moonstone, has many layers. On the surface, my book is a wacky tale about accidental magic. Yet, if you take a deeper dive, you’ll discover the positive nuggets. Essentially, it’s about family relationships and the undeniable power of forgiveness.

After I retired from a career in Information Technology, my husband and I began on a grand adventure exploring the back roads of America. For over five hundred days, we lived in a Transit van named ‘Vanimal’. Together, we visited thirty-eight states, saw incredible sites, and met fascinating people. All the while, the thought of writing a story to capture the magic of our journey lingered. The freedom of wandering and the solitude of the desert fueled my imagination. When I set my mind to the task, the characters jumped off the page, and The Raven Moonstone, my debut novel, was born.

Initially, I wrote The Raven Moonstone for my grandson. I intended to impart words of wisdom cloaked in a world of magical misadventures. But my son encouraged me to publish. So, in a leap of faith, I forced myself to leave my comfort zone and enter the world of self-publishing. The vulnerability of sharing my writing is difficult to describe. As a new author and a ferocious reader, I’m grateful the Author’s Lounge featured my book. Considering the number of talented authors and choices available, making it into their circle is an honor. I’m proud of my story, The Raven Moonstone, and if my novel entices teens to read, I’ll consider my work a success. I hope readers enjoy the magical journey and connect with my eclectic cast of characters.

While my target audience is upper-middle-grade/young adults, many bookworms of a ‘certain age’ also like my book. It’s a clean coming-of-age story with no profanity or vulgarity. The Raven Moonstone is a thrilling fantasy adventure full of twists and turns, spills and thrills, with a creepy, humorous vibe. The main character, Noah, is in over his head in more ways than one, with consequences to his actions that are impossible to ignore. When he stumbles into the mystical realm of magic, the discovery of family secrets has him reeling. He must deal with his negative emotions and overcome unbelievable obstacles.

I’ve always been a storyteller, but my days were too full to put my ideas on paper. Now that I’ve retired, I have time, and it seems I’ve discovered my niche. When I’m not writing, I run two miles a day, play pickleball, and swim. But, of course, we’re not done traveling, as there are several places yet to explore. After all, it’s where I get my inspiration. I’m working on my second book. If I stay on task, book two will be available by the end of the year. I have tons of ideas for magical mischief that will keep Noah and his friends busy for some time.

The Raven Moonstone is available on Amazon in e-book, paperback, and free with Kindle Unlimited. You can find my book here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0BMZD2S2M.

I’ve also included my book description:

The Raven Moonstone

Noah never expected to find a book of potions in his local library. But when he does, he unleashes a wave of magic with unexpected consequences. As Noah delves deeper into the world of magic, he stumbles upon secrets meant to stay hidden. With each new revelation, he realizes the stakes are higher than ever imagined. Now he must embark on a perilous quest to find the Raven Moonstone, a legendary artifact that can reverse his mistakes. Time is slipping away. Dark forces are closing in. Can Noah save his town from a magical apocalypse?

I hope you enjoy the story, and if you do, please leave a kind review.
