Thanks for having me here with you today. I appreciate the opportunity to be featured in the Author’s Lounge. I look forward to answering your questions. 😊

What is your book all about?
The One Discovered (Chronicles of the Diasodz, Book 1) follows two Diasodz, Ar’ch and Angel, as they come to Earth to find the prophesied savior who can return their powers to full strength and prevent them from fading out of existence. Diasodz are special beings who were created by the Goddess to heal and protect humans. They live their first 18 years as humans and then transform into Diasodz. Each Diasodz has a special ability. Some are given a connection to the earth to heal while others attain magical powers to protect. Once Angel and Ar’ch find this savior, their mission is to take her back to their world to convince her to help them. Of course, not everything goes as planned. 😉

What inspired you to write the book?
My inspiration came from a dream, which eventually turned into the ending of The One Discovered. I awoke from my dream with tears streaming down my face, and I immediately wrote down what I remembered. I became obsessed with figuring out who the four people in the scene were, what their relationship to one another was, and why they were so important. Originally, I thought I’d write a trilogy, but that quickly turned into a five-book series, with a sixth (and final) full-length novel coming. I’ve also written a short story (The One Chosen) as a sort of prequel to the series and may write more short stories on the characters in the future.
What is your target audience?
I wrote this story for teens, but it has been received well by adults as well. Both men and women have been drawn into the series. There is a bit of romance, but the main focus is on good versus evil and the shades of gray in between, and everyone can relate to that.
What do you hope readers will get out of your book?
My first hope is that readers lose themselves in the series and find pure enjoyment in the journey of exploring a fantasy world. There are many twists and turns, so I want to keep readers guessing as to who the savior really is and which side he/she should save. Finally, there are many lessons embedded in the series, and I hope readers will pause and consider their own views on the issues shared.
What are your future goals/plans for the book?
This series is complete in the five books. Right now, I’m writing a sixth book, which will follow one of the characters who has died as he works on redeeming himself to be reborn. I’m hoping to publish the book at some point in 2022.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with us about yourself?
Thanks for asking. I’ve been a reading teacher for 25 years. Through those years, I’ve learned how struggling readers feel about reading, so when I decided to become a writer, I focused on making sure my books would allow readers to immerse themselves into stories that would leave them wanting more. The majority of my books are focused on young adults, but both the young and old(er) can connect to them quite easily. My newest novel, HYPE, does not have any magical element to it, but all my other books/short stories do. I love the mystical world and drawing powers from the elements. I love nature and always look for opportunities to connect with it, whether it’s swimming in the ocean, riding bikes in the park, visiting national forests on road trips, or camping. So, you will find that nature is embedded in most of my stories.
