The Lycan Knights – Prequel is the latest and first full-length novel by me, K. L. Stephens. This story starts off in Jerusalem at the end of the ninth and final crusade. The last remaining six Lycan Knights of Order of Arcadia, which has been fighting with human Christians for over one hundred years; are called into the headquarters of the Knights Templar. Once there they are given their final mission to take their treasure and keep it safe from the Pope and all the Kings of Europe.  Until such time as they receive word back from the Grandmaster himself or if not hide it for all time.

Their journey takes them over 3200 miles over sea, land, then back to sea to get to their homeland in Scotland.  During the months of traveling and staying away from human civilizations each one of the six encounters their long-awaited mate and will not give them up.  Not only have they found their mates, but the Pope also discovers that the Knights Templar’s treasure is no longer in Jerusalem and has sent out his spies to hunt it down.

The one that helps them along the way is a wily old Elf named Eryn. He knows more than he ever lets on; and when he does let them in on bits and pieces of their history, he does so with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes.  Eryn has a knack for showing up just at the right time. Each time it seems that they are in desperate need of assistance.  Eryn turns out to be a major player in these Lycans’ lives and does not let them know why until the very end.

I got the inspiration to write this book when I first started Lucas. Lucas will be the next book in this series, but after I completed it, I soon realized the part that was missing in his story was the back story of their families.  So that is where The Lycan Knights – Prequel came from.  This is the story that puts together the six Lycans that will be featured in upcoming books over time.

This story took on a life of its own and was a blast to write. I loved how the characters came to life on my computer screen, as I let my fingers fly across the keyboard. My biggest wish for readers is that they too can see these characters in their minds and will cheer them on as they face one adversity after another to get the treasure safely back to Scotland.

This book is the first in this series, and there will be six more to follow. I am working on getting the audio version produced and will release it soon.  Also, there could possibly be two sequels to this series that will tell the stories of Eryn, as well as Esmee. The young witch and sister of Callen’s mate, but those are still just ideas that are floating around in my head.

A little about me, I am K. L. Stephens. I have published eight contemporary short erotic stories and now have ventured into the paranormal world. My reading interests are as diverse as my writing. From classic, or sweet romances to spicy paranormal shifters and vampires.

When I am not writing you can find me either gardening, cooking (I love making new recipes), or crafting. Of course, curling up with a good book is always a great way to spend an afternoon or evening.

K. L. Stephens lives in Palm Beach County, Florida since, 2007 with her exceptional Cocker Spaniel and a lazy cat.
