My name is Derek Martic Langdon. At a young age, I started playing video games. Gamers know that they can live the best fantasies in front of their TVs.
Playing video games makes things that are impossible in real life be experienced by the player. This is how I came up with the idea to be an author. I realised that I enjoyed the stories these games had to offer. So I decided to start writing stories of my own.
My first book titled “The King of Awakening” was inspired by critically acclaimed video game franchises like Assassin’s Creed and The Witcher. As an author, I decided to adopt a style that focuses on action and horror, including romantic elements. I’ve really taken an interest in Europe and its medieval period. Also, the captivating cultural fiction that we know as mythology. By going deeper into my book, readers will notice that I have an extraordinary ability when it comes to writing interesting dialogue.
At first, I was just someone who wanted to create a good story, but when I started writing, I discovered that I have a writing ability that not everyone else has. It was then I realised that writing is a divine talent. A talent that I intend to exploit to make my readers have an entertaining time while reading The King of Awakening, as well as my future books.
As far as creating characters is concerned, I almost always draw inspiration from people I’ve known throughout my 25 years of life. And I also draw inspiration from myself. Darkness is a very important aspect of my writing. My plan is to always create dark stories, just like The King of Awakening or even darker. I have a Slavic background, which was very useful for writing the book. I used Croatia and the Kingdom of Bohemia for vital parts in the narrative.
Speaking of myself, I can say that I have had the opportunity to travel to many different places, which has given me a wide view of the world, despite my age. I live in the south of Chile, South America, a place rich in nature, ideal for finding peace and concentration in writing my books. Being an author has helped me to know a different side of me. A side I’m truly proud of. A side that draws on all the creativity I have inside and makes me a happy person.
If there’s something I’ve learned, it is that to achieve great things, all we have to do is to stop hesitating and take action. Our actions define who we are and what we become. I have many dreams and aspirations in my life. And I just made one of these dreams a reality by creating The King of Awakening.
My debut novella will certainly be appreciated by anyone who has struggled in life. One of the reasons my book is dark is that it helps me and the readers understand that people who suffer, whatever their reason, are not alone. It’s hard to thrive in the world we live in. It’s not impossible, but hard. The world itself is going through a difficult time. This is why I’d like to be of help for people to read my book and just forget a bit about their problems.
The King of Awakening is an intense story that readers will never forget. Once they get the taste of it, they will understand better what I’m describing in this article. And they will excitedly want to keep reading until the book ends. I really invite everyone who is reading this article to join me on this journey. We’re just getting started.
