What is Terror Australis: The Western Front All About?
Terror Australis: The Western Front is a pulse-pounding survival horror novel that thrusts readers into the heart of a zombie apocalypse unfolding in the Australian outback. It follows a group of young Australians—Nathan, Karly, Chance, Daniel, Sophie and Sharon—who are forced to navigate an unrelenting nightmare after infection ravages the country. With suspenseful moments, tactical retreats, and intense encounters, the story combines survival strategies with military operations as the characters battle the growing horde of infected. As the group faces increasingly organized and dangerous zombies, they must confront external threats, internal doubts, and moral dilemmas. The novel is as much about human resilience and resourcefulness as it is about terror and chaos. This book builds the Western Australian environment around you, from the city to the hot, bushy outback.
What Inspired You to Write the Book?
I’ve always wanted to write a zombie book, and I think this came from reading Max Brooks and watching zombie movies at a young age. Terror Australis: The Western Front stems from my fascination with survival scenarios and the untapped potential of Australia as a setting for horror fiction. Australia’s vast, isolated landscapes provide the perfect backdrop for suspense and fear, creating a sense of vulnerability, urgency, and isolation. I’ve always been drawn to stories of survival against impossible odds, whether in post-apocalyptic films or military thrillers. This book allowed me to merge those influences into a uniquely Australian narrative, blending the tension of zombie horror with the grit and ingenuity needed to endure in the outback. I wanted to explore how ordinary people could face extraordinary circumstances and find strength they never knew they had.
What Is Your Target Audience for the Book?
This book is aimed at readers who enjoy fast-paced survival horror, action-packed thrillers, and post-apocalyptic fiction. Fans of series like The Walking Dead or World War Z will find much to enjoy, particularly the tactical aspects and group dynamics in the fight for survival. It’s also well-suited for readers who appreciate stories set in Australia, offering a fresh perspective on the zombie genre. Lots of action, blood and guts and even a beach party. While the novel targets adults and older teens, it appeals to anyone who enjoys exploring themes of survival, courage, and trust amidst chaos. The layered characters and suspenseful atmosphere ensure it’s not just a horror novel but a gripping exploration of human nature under pressure.

What Do You Hope Readers Could Get Out From Your Book?
Beyond the adrenaline rush, I hope readers come away with a sense of accomplishment following this story. I want the reader to sit back and think, ‘I could picture that entire story, what an awesome read that was’. Terror Australis: The Western Front is ultimately a story about survival—not just against the undead but against fear, despair, and self-doubt. It highlights how teamwork, resourcefulness, and courage can overcome even the most terrifying obstacles. The book also encourages readers to question authority and reflect on the consequences of unchecked scientific ambition. As the characters uncover secrets about the infection’s origin, they’re forced to grapple with ethical questions and personal sacrifices.
Above all, I want readers to be entertained, feel their pulse quicken, and imagine what they would do in the same situation. If the book leaves readers thinking about its themes long after the final page, I’ve achieved my goal.
What Are Your Future Goals/Plans for the Book?
I’m thrilled with the response Terror Australis: The Western Front has received so far, and I’m excited to continue expanding this universe. The sequel, Terror Australis: Red Dirt Rebellion, is already in development. It picks up where the first book leaves off, with the group awakening on Rottnest Island and embarking on a perilous journey to re-establish contact with the military. The sequel introduces even more organized and intelligent zombies due to secret experiments, pushing the characters to their limits.
My vision for the series is to create a multi-book saga that keeps readers engaged with evolving threats and character arcs. Each instalment will explore new environments and challenges, maintaining the balance between action, suspense, and emotional depth. I also plan to promote the book through platforms like Authors’ Lounge to reach a broader audience and connect with readers who are passionate about horror and survival fiction. I’ve also written three other books aimed at young adults. You can find the book links below:

A Bit About Myself
I’ve always been passionate about storytelling, particularly tales that delve into survival, suspense, and the resilience of the human spirit. My background includes a strong interest in emergency services and tactical strategies, which heavily influenced the realistic elements of my writing. I work as an Advanced Care Paramedic in Western Australia. Outside of writing, I enjoy exploring Australia’s landscapes, which continue to inspire my settings and themes. When I’m not crafting new stories, I’m working on educational content for paramedics and health professionals, blending my love for storytelling with real-world expertise. I am married to my beautiful wife Karly, and we expect a mini-me in March 2025.
I’m excited to continue sharing my stories with readers and building on the Terror Australis series. Whether you’re a fan of horror, thrillers, or tales of survival, this book offers a gripping adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
