My best selling book Stranded With a Soldier is about a journalism student who gets stuck at the airport with a handsome Army soldier, and despite disagreements, they developed a romantic connection.
It is a book about a journey of self-discovery and love between the two, who meet accidentally while stranded at an airport. They’re initially mismatched, but eventually grow closer, revealing hidden depths and vulnerabilities beneath their tough exteriors.
I was inspired to write the book after having a significant experience on a flight – I was sitting next to a comfortable yet handsome stranger whom I’d never met again, but our great conversation made me realize I should never settle for someone who isn’t right for me, since I could be missing out on a wonderful opportunity.
My target audience would be young adults and adult fiction enthusiasts looking for a sweet, feel-good romance with depth. Readers would likely connect with Sophia and Brian’s relatable struggles and triumphs, feeling uplifted by their emotional journeys and finding love in the most unexpected place regardless of skin color.
Sometimes having my characters situated in Charlotte, NC really helps spark my creativity and overcome writer’s block.
There’s something about the city’s atmosphere and warmth that seems to awaken ideas and perspectives for me. Watching Sophia and Brian come alive in my mind while sitting in the Charlotte Douglas airport was a surreal experience. Their stories began unfolding before my eyes like a movie playing. Their story was weaving into existence towards me. It’s moments like those that remind me of the magic that happens when we allow ourselves to be curious about the lives of strangers.
Being a #1 best seller on Amazon was definitely a surreal experience. I’ll never forget the rush of emotions that came with seeing my book soar to the top. It was like a dream come true, validating all the hard work I put into writing. To know that my story resonated with so many readers on such a massive platform was truly humbling.
Before I started writing Stranded With A Soldier, I struggled with writer’s block. It was frustrating, leaving me feeling stuck and uncertain. To overcome it, I found myself staying up to write, burning the midnight oil, and pushing through resistance. Those long hours were grueling, but they allowed me to break free from the creative gridlock and tap into my inner voice once again.
In terms of promoting “Stranded with a Soldier”, my goal would be to increase visibility through interviews and features in media outlets.
I think reaching out to book bloggers, influencers, and podcasters in the romance genre could be effective. I would like to participate in online communities or forums dedicated to romance readers and writers.
I see myself as a talented author known for captivating storytelling and versatility across multiple genres. With a passion for writing that spans my entire life, I have written over 40 books, ranging from horror and romance to inspirational and children’s literature.
When I’m not writing, I enjoy unwinding with westerns, Lifetime movies, and old-school TV shows. My pageant days as a former beauty queen still influence my confidence, which helps me bring my characters to life. As a passionate animal lover, I draw inspiration from the world around me, whether it’s a beautiful sunset, a good book, or a conversation with a friend. My love affair with writing began in the 3rd grade when my teacher was blown away by a poem I wrote about eating pancakes while watching the rain, and she implored me to promise I’d become a writer someday.
