What is your book all about?

In “Seven Steps for Wellbeing and Joy in Your Life: A Must-Have Guide for Musicians and Other Professional Artists” I present a comprehensive guide tailored to musicians and other professional artists, addressing the pressures, vulnerabilities, physical wellbeing, career paths, creativity, social connections, and living authentically in the artistic world.
Through personal anecdotes, research-backed evidence, and practical exercises, readers will gain valuable insights and strategies to navigate the challenges unique to their artistic journeys.
By emphasizing the significance of self-care, joy, and overall wellbeing, I offer readers the tools they need to cultivate a happier, more fulfilling life in the pursuit of their artistic passions.

What inspired you to write the book?

After many years as a professional musician and working as a performance, career, and life coach for musicians, I felt it was time to write this book, which I dedicate to all musicians and other professional artists. I know from my own experience and the experiences of other musicians and artists how important it is to take care of yourself, to keep healthy emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, and to pay attention to your overall wellbeing.

Professional artists are taught to put everything into their work: their time, their feelings, their personal lives, their money, and even their health. It is natural to strive for excellence, to want to be better than your peers. I was raised in that same spirit and have paid a high price for it. For many years, I ignored my anxiety and high level of stress, or more precisely, I learned to live with them at my side. I have experienced emotional and physical pain too. It took many years for me to recognize this and to make the necessary changes. In addition to my own life, in the last few years, I have grown increasingly concerned about the joy and wellbeing in the lives of musicians and other artists. I wrote this book in the hope that my experience, information, and suggestions about the significance of wellbeing, self-care, and joy may have a beneficial impact on you as well, that it will drive you to take action and make changes in your life—small and/or big—that you need to feel good again.

What is your target audience for the book?

The target audience for my book: “Seven Steps for Wellbeing and Joy in Your Life: A Must-Have Guide for Musicians and Other Professional Artists” are classical musicians and other performing artists which are looking for personal growth, more joy and wellbeing in their professional life. They may be students, teachers or professional artists.

What do you hope readers could get out from your book?

I wrote this book in the hope that my experience, information, and suggestions about the significance of wellbeing, self-care, and joy may have a beneficial impact on readers as well, that it will drive them to take action and make changes in their life—small and/or big—that they need to feel good again.

Takeaways from reading my book:

  • Experience how small changes can offer you joy and a positive feeling in your life, even in the face of stress, anxiety, or depression.
  • Overcome the vulnerabilities that affect artists, such as stage fright, perfectionism, procrastination, poor self-confidence, and imposter syndrome.
  • How can resilience help you thrive and succeed in a non-linear professional life.
  • The best way to prevent exhaustion and burnout.
  • What if you could turn your negative core beliefs into positive ones?
  • What entrepreneurial qualities do you need to succeed in the arts?

What are your future goals/plans for the book?

My wish is that this book will become a piece of reference for all classical musicians and other professional artists. I’ll promote the book on social media and also in some workshops. To reach a broader audience I would also like to publish the book in other languages.
