“Self Acceptance”

I am Me
Surely everyone can see
I am a true reflection of myself
Of who I am and who I want to be

Standing naked before the mirror
I can see myself for the first time
(Laughter, laughter, laughter)
Funny, it seems….I know
But believe me,
I am not trying to impress you
By making a useless show

I am Me
I can see myself for the first time
This person staring back at me is myself
Yes Me….
A true and accurate reflection of who I am
And who I want to be

I am Me
Surely everyone can see
I am excited…so excited
Because I am free
Free to see me
And I want everyone to see

I am a beautiful, black, talented,
Curvaceous and intelligent young woman
I am the woman who will be your wife
And a wonderful mother to our child
I am a Daughter, Sister, Niece
Aunt, Cousin, and beloved Friend
I am free to be me
And free to love again

I love the color of my eyes…
Though dark brown
I can still see right through your heart
I love my hair and my complexion….
I am alluring and sensual

I love my thighs, broad nose, and heavy accent…..
I appreciate my thick lips
And the sweet kisses that they give…..
God has blessed me with plenty
I love my perfectly formed breasts….
My baby will lack for nothing

You see…
I am Me….
A true and accurate reflection of who I am
And who I want to be

So whether you love me or hate me
You can never ever change me
Because I am Me…..
A true and accurate reflection of myself
Of who I am, who I want to be
And who….. I will always be!!!!!!
