Poem of The Day is a book filled with short stanzas of poetry written in the period of a 24-hr day.
Before the poems were published in Poem of The Day, I place them inside the Apple Phone application, Notes, and broadcast them through my accounts on social media–Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. These verses are purposely set at a smaller length due to the size of a phone camera picture of the poem, which is inserted inside the social media posting. And along with the post, I place the text of the poetry into the ‘Daily Reels’, which is broadcast within the popular applications. I love the challenge of exploring daily wordage and creating an interesting topic within the day (minus the eight hours of sleep – but I do admit, some of the verses were written at 2 or 3 am). During the 24-hour periods, I generally look for a visual clue early in the day, and then build on that theme to write the daily work.
My inspiration for writing this poetry comes from various personal inputs within my current life. First, I hope to expand my word knowledge and help improve my overall writing prose, especially for my new passion of Novel writing (my debut book was just published in late June, 2021). Secondly, during non-winter months, I have been working for several years on a Golf Course Grounds Crew, which demands a shocking, morning wake-up call of 4:30 am.
During this early rise, I deeply view the unique events of the early morning hours – driving on isolated streets in the darkness, observing various early weather phenomena, and plus, the incredible enjoyment of summer and the great outdoors. Thirdly, I enjoy writing poetry, especially with its ‘pseudo’ way of describing events of love, the human condition, or any of the typical emotions.
For the readers, I hope to appeal to any age past early adult that is searching for a need to relax (or chill out) and mix some easy thoughts about the happenings of the day, the passions and desire of love, or some of the current events in the world. Book enthusiasts will get a variety of reflections and contemplations from the numerous ideas reproduced in the verses. The readers should also be challenged to ponder the hidden meanings in the wordage, and create their own opinion on the small written pieces.
Poem of The Day is a ‘Series’ book, so as new poetry is written for each day, the daily poems will be put into blocks of three-to-four months writings that will be added to the series. For the reflections about of love, the 2nd book in the series will have poems based on two lovers travels through the major cities of the world (this second edition should be available by late July, 2021 to readers).
Currently, I am a retired, former employee of the worldwide technology company, IBM, where I worked for 20+ years. I reside in the state of Minnesota, USA, where I was born and raised in a family of seven children. I am married with two daughters. Along with my part-time golf course employment, I also have a teaching license from the State of Minnesota and substitute teach at local elementary and high schools. Some of my inspirations have come from the daily events that occur inside the school system.
For the future, the Poem of The Day routine will continue and new additions will be added to the book series. And, I will be continuing my opportunities as a writer with more work on new dramatic Novels, which will be published in the upcoming years.
