Unveiling the Heart Behind “My Proverbs Prayer”

The year 2023 started with a commitment too fast so the Lord could reveal something in my life. At the beginning of the fast it was laid in my Spirit to read the Book of Proverbs and write a prayer from each chapter. This book is the result of obedience to the Holy Spirit. As I read through each day, I prayed that the words would penetrate my mind, body and spirit and bless me in ways I may never know.

Drawing Wisdom from Proverbs and Personal Reflection

As I reflect on the journey of creating “My Proverbs Prayer – 31 Days of Spiritual Wisdom,” I am reminded of the profound impact that the Book of Proverbs has had on my life. This ancient wisdom, penned by King Solomon, has been a guiding light in my own spiritual walk, illuminating the path to wisdom, discernment, and faith. There have been many principles learned in these words from Solomon and taught to me by my father, that I have never forgotten. I can clearly remember sitting down with my brother and memorizing the verse, “Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they get old, they will not depart from it.” How true these words have been, and they have made an impact on my life.

A Personal Quest for Wisdom

My desire to write “My Proverbs Prayer” stemmed from a deep longing to help others experience the transformative power of prayer and spiritual wisdom. As I delved into the Book of Proverbs, I was struck by the relevance of its teachings to our modern lives. The wisdom contained within its pages is timeless, offering practical guidance on how to navigate life’s challenges with integrity, compassion, and faith. Proverbs is my favorite book in the Bible, especially chapter 3. Although I have read these chapters many times, the new insight and illumination continue to come to life, never ceasing to amaze me.

Crafting Prayers that Inspire and Uplift

As I wrote “My Proverbs Prayer,” my goal was to craft prayers that would, at the same time, inspire and uplift readers, while also being short and sweet. Each prayer is based on a Proverbs verse, chosen to reflect a key aspect of our spiritual journey. From cultivating wisdom and discernment to trusting in God’s sovereignty and living with intention and purpose, these prayers invite readers to deepen their relationship with God and embrace the wisdom of Proverbs. The spirit of these prayers is simplistic for any reader and yet, they were written to provide a small path that will open your eyes to a spiritual place that would connect to your heart.

A 31-Day Journey of Spiritual Growth

The 31-day format of “My Proverbs Prayer” is designed to provide a structured yet flexible framework for readers to explore the Book of Proverbs. Each prayer includes a reflection (Johnism), encouraging readers to reflect on Proverbs’ wisdom and apply it to their lives. This journey of spiritual growth is not meant to be a solo endeavor. My hope is that readers will share “My Proverbs Prayer” with friends, family, or small groups. In doing so, they can foster a community of believers who, in turn, will support and encourage one another.
