What is your book all about?
Lman is a story about a one-year-old baby superhero that overcomes bad guys and saves the world! He doesn’t have any actual superpowers but is motivated by his love for his friends and family! He protects innocence using his trusty jump rope and baby blanket cape to swoop in and take care of bad guys and bullies that are scaring kids in daycares, playgrounds, and backyards everywhere. He is a defender of the “little” man and a protector of stuffed animals everywhere!
What inspired you to write the book?
I was inspired to write Lman by watching my son use his baby blanket as a cape and play around the house. To me, he is such an inspiration and reminded me that no matter what, you can achieve great things in this world through kindness, courage, and strength, regardless of size, age, or any difference. Everyone is beautifully different in their own way, and it should always be embraced. His t-shirt, diaper, socks, and baby blanket cape formed the whole outfit at once. The only thing I added was a mask. He is known for his spiky hair hence why Lman has spiky hair as well! Truly, he is the sole inspiration for both this work and for me.
What is your target audience for the book?
My target audiences are children ranging from ages 7-12 and grades 3-7. In addition, my target audience is also anyone that loves adventure and action and can relate to getting lost in a good story! I hope this book appeals to young readers as well as to the young at heart! I am a strong believer that a fun-loving child still lives in every adult, and I hope even adults can find fun and excitement in these pages. Lman is not only for kids but for adults that are young at heart, who remember what being a kid is all about. We tend to get in a rush and forget the simple pleasure of being a happy-go-lucky kid!
What do you hope readers could get from your book?
I hope children and anyone who’s young at heart experience action and adventure when reading Lman. I also want them to learn to champion truths like love and friendship for others. I want them to learn how to stand in the face of adversity, just like Lman! Children are always capable of amazing and incredible things that surprise even us adults. I want readers to have a good time and have fun with the characters and stories.
What are your future goals/plans for the book?
My future plan is to continue to release new issues of Lman for children and those young at heart to read and enjoy. I am very grateful to Authors’ Lounge for giving me the opportunity to share this series and help me connect with other authors and a larger audience. I want to continue to build the Lman brand into other passions of mine including toys and animation. Comics were originally intended for kids’ enjoyment and amusement and I hope I can bring that to them in the coming years. I love this character and have many stories that I would love to tell and share with my audience. Everyone needs a hero and someone that they can look up to and I believe this character can provide inspiration and motivation to children and help them overcome their own trials in life.
And something more about yourself.
I am a comic book creator, artist, and writer. I am happily married with one child. I love stories of adventure and themes of overcoming the odds. Stories have always fascinated me and brought me a lot of joy and great memories. I want to bring that joy to others with my stories. I also love to teach art skills to others. In today’s world knowledge and education is just a few keystrokes away. I want to make learning the arts as accessible to every child and student as possible. I want to motivate and encourage them to pursue their dreams in the arts and do what I can to help nurture that love so they will never outgrow it.
