Alford’s Biography

As mentioned, Judith Martin Alford is an educator and pastor with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Georgia and a Master of Divinity from Erskine Theological Seminary. She taught public school in Western Pennsylvania from 1985 to 1998, where she raised two sons. While living in Western Pennsylvania, Judith served the United Methodist Church on several short-term mission trips to Germany and Russia. For a year (from 1998 to 19990, Judith traveled across the United States in an RV with Jim, her husband. Both did mission work with the homeless in Phoenix, Arizona, and Rust State College in Holly Springs, Mississippi. In 1999, when the couple moved to South Carolina, Judy encountered God’s call on her for evangelizing at the age of 52.

As an anointed elder in the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, she and Jim served six churches throughout South Carolina. She wrote Bible studies for all four years of Bishop Richard Wilke’s Disciple Bible texts during this time. For over twenty years, Judy loved teaching The Disciple Bible Studies. Cokesbury, the Methodist publishing house, copyrighted her lessons.

Judy and Jim have traveled extensively throughout the world. Still, she enjoyed their trips to the Holy Land, Egypt, and Paul’s second and third missionary sites in Greece and Turkey. Judith retired in 2014 to care for her terminally ill husband, who died in 2015. Today, Judy lives in Greenwood, South Carolina, where she enjoys making stained glass windows, writing, and serving the Lord, which is the delight of her life.
