No Bones About It: A DOG LOVER’S INSPIRATIONAL POEMS

Passion… Emotion… Love

Sounds like a romance novel

And it IS

My Love for Dogs

My Passion for rhyming poetry

And the emotional relationship

Between DOGS and HUMANS

These deep senses are presented in my book in a classic “old school” rhythm and rhyme poetic format.  I, Jill Meunier, once thought to submit my poems to a greeting card company but that got thrown out the window pretty quickly, as I knew I had something much deeper to offer, convey to and share with the dog people of the earth.

In this, my first book of poems, I am enduring the grieving process – the hopeful recovery process – and then moving onward with light humor and sparkle… to rescue another wonder-dog with a bountiful personality, and to move the departed pet’s spirit into a deserving heart to cherish and dote upon.  Part of ME goes into the welcomed new part of our family.

I, Jill Meunier, didn’t have a dog as a pet until my young adult years when everyone and everything else on earth seemed to have let me down.  I was a rebellious, rowdy, eccentric girl who still managed to make the honor roll.  I was repeatedly told by my mother that I was a good-for-nothing nutcase in that “coulda-shoulda-woulda” way.  I suffered a childhood and young- to mid-adulthood life of constant verbal violence and severely abusive critique.  This treatment left me very insecure and with a lifetime of chronic and clinical depression and anxiety.  Anyone out there who can relate?

Until I met dogs.

Like the zillions of other people on the planet who love dogs for all the right reasons, all dogs became my quintessential best friends and family.  Their lives and love superseded the length and quality of most other relationships of my life.  As repayment for them bestowing themselves on my world, I, Jill Meunier, will glorify them in making the dog the one who is serving up his near-human thoughts in most of my poems – the rest being a combination of typical canine-ness and humanity and the emotions evoked between them. Please enjoy my inspirational poetic tribute to dogs, a book for all ages.
