What is your book all about?
It is the turn of the twentieth century, and Joseph Tooley is a scorned man. Ten years ago, Joseph’s father Jacob went missing in the hills now known as Jacob’s Pass, and in those ten years Joseph has descended into a pit of whiskey-fueled isolation. He’s never given up hope on finding his father, and spends his days avoiding the townspeople of the neighboring Hapsburg.
But one day, a mysterious note appears on his door: If you want to find your father, stop looking and open your eyes.
When a stranger arrives on his property the following day, he lets slip something he shouldn’t have known and, in the heat of the moment, Joseph kills the man and buries him on his property. But when he goes into town to get answers, the carefully constructed reality that is Joseph’s life begins to unravel…
What is real? What is a dream? Who is the stranger controlling the puppet strings? In this gripping debut thriller, nobody is who they seem.
What inspired you to write the book?
My inspiration came from my difficulties of fitting back in with society after my time in Afghanistan while I served in the Army. My psychiatrist suggested that I start journaling and that turned into writing short stories. One story in particular involved a hermit who decided to walk to the nearest tavern and on the way he meets God. On the way back he meets the Devil and that story line blossomed into Jacob’s Pass.
What is your target audience for the book?
I think people who like mysteries with a touch of thriller and a twist ending would enjoy my book.
What do you hope readers could get out from your book?
That what your five senses tell you isn’t always the truth.
What are your future goals/plans for the book?
Promote, promote, promote.🙂
And something more about yourself.
I love to write. It quite literally saved my life. I was living on the streets for nearly six months all the while writing in my notebook. With the help of the VA I now have my humble abode, my cat Serica, and shelves and shelves of wonderful books. I would like to thank the Authors’ Lounge for this opportunity.
