Hello everyone! My name is Carmen Clegg and I am a first time children’s author. Reading and writing poetry was always a favorite past time. My inspiration sometimes just comes from being at the right place at the right time. I can get an idea staring at an object long enough….especially in a beautiful setting. My first children’s book (I suppose the rose knew) was literally a download from heaven. I am a single mom of two adult children who are very supportive and excited for me and a grandmother of the most precious granddaughter I could ever ask for. I suppose the rose knew is a story about a young girl around the age of eight. She’s in front of her home kneeling at a bed of roses when she discovers one of the roses is not looking so well and it saddens her when she thinks the rose knows it’s not going to make it.

It’s a gentle children’s tale highlighting the short lived beauty and the fragility of flowers in her garden. A lushly illustrated children’s story exploring themes of mortality and the passage of time. It is my sincere hope that during the most precious time a child, nieces and nephews, grandchildren can encounter is spent reading my book and giving them a life lesson they can benefit always. I hope getting to know me a bit better in Authors lounge was rewarding. This is just the beginning.
